HAWLEY STILL SUFFERS FROM STAGE FRIGHT
British singer/songwriter RICHARD HAWLEY still finds performing live a struggle, despite more than 10 years in the music business.
Hawley found fame with British band The Longpigs in the 1990s and embarked on a solo career in 2000. But despite his years of experience and huge critical acclaim - culminating in last year’s (06) Mercury Music Prize nomination - he still battles severe stage fright.
He says, "I still get nervous. I s**t myself before gigs. That’s why I talk loads of s**te between songs.
"Although I’ve been doing it since I were (sic) a kid, I just didn’t have the prerequisite ego to be a singer. I just got to a point where I’d got so many songs that the weight of them pushed me to do it." (SH/WNTSU/MEH) WENN - SECOND - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS -11 AUGUST 2007
