THOMPSON PENS SONG FOR DOHERTY
Folk legend LINDA THOMPSON used the troubled life of British rocker PETE DOHERTY as inspiration for her new song.
The singer admits she wrote the tune, named after his band Babyshambles, after finding Doherty "touching" during a chance meeting at a work event.
And Thompson claims Doherty gets a "rotten rap" from the media and advises him to move on from his relationship with on/off lover Kate Moss.
She says, "Yeah, I did, a song called Babyshambles I think it’s going on some Japanese version of the album. I find him quite touching. He gets a rotten rap.
"I worked with him on a TV show and we hung out a bit. He’s not terribly well. He’s very talented. I think that talent is quickly being dissipated. It’s not going to be there much longer, probably. But you never know. He did enough good stuff with The Libertines to give him a stab at being remembered.
"And he’s very beautiful. He’s a real quintessential rock ‘n’ roll tragedy case. I feel for him. Everyone keeps saying Kate Moss should get rid of him. I think he should get rid of her." (LJ/WNWCNM/IG) WENN - FIFTH - HOLLYWOOD, SHOWBIZ & PEOPLE NEWS - 09 AUGUST 2007
