Actor LEONARDO DiCAPRIO has decided not to campaign for any of the 2008 U.S.
presidential candidates, because none of the politicians in the running "inspire" him.
The Blood Diamond star, 32, was a staunch advocate of Democratic hopeful Senator John Kerry during 2004’s presidential election and even travelled across 14 states to rally support and raise funds for him.
But DiCaprio admits the frontrunners for 2008’s election - Democratic candidates Senator Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and Republican Ron Paul have yet to catch his attention with their environmental policies.
He says, "I’m still on the fence about it, to tell you the truth. I have yet to hear a candidate that has clearly laid out their environmental policy in a way that is inspiring to me." Referring to Senator Kerry’s previous election campaign, DiCaprio adds, "I thought he had an amazing environmental policy. But I have yet to hear a candidate that has compared in that regard.
"I’m waiting for the right questions to be asked, and for these candidates to give really clear responses to what they’re going to do in a tangible way - not a lot of rhetoric. I want to hear hardcore facts."

Fearless martial arts star JACKIE CHAN has confessed a secret phobia - he hates needles.
The Rush Hour star is known for performing most of his own dangerous stunts and he’s even the proud holder of the Guinness World Record for Most Stunts By A Living Actor.
But the daredevil actor still has a fear of needles, which stems from a childhood accident when he was rushed to hospital with a broken ankle.
He recalls, "The doctor had to operate and wanted to put me under. But I said, ‘No, just do it. No injection.’"

Late screen beauty AUDREY HEPBURN was rejected for the lead role in 1961 movie A TASTE OF HONEY - because she was "too stunning".
The Breakfast At Tiffany’s star was wanted for the role of Josephine in the film, playing a plain working-class teenager who becomes pregnant by an African-American sailor.
But the role eventually went to fledgling actress Rita Tushingham - a little-known thespian from Liverpool, England.
Tushingham says, "The studio didn’t want an unknown - they wanted, actually, Audrey Hepburn. She was a stunningly beautiful woman but I don’t think she would have been right for Jo." Hepburn died in 1993, aged 63.

JEFF BRIDGES regrets he didn’t encourage his three daughters to carry on the Bridges acting dynasty.
The 57-year-old actor grew up in a Hollywood household with his late father Lloyd and brother Beau - and he believes he could have pushed his daughters to join the family business..
He says, "I wasn’t as encouraging as my father was with me. Dad really loved showbiz and wanted all his kids to go into it. I didn’t discourage the girls neither did I make opportunities for them and I’m regretting it now.
"They’re all at the stage of their lives when they’re questioning what they’re going to do, so I say, ‘You might want to consider acting.’ "I wish I’d brought it up earlier."

Film director MELVILLE SHAVELSON has died at the age of 90.
The filmmaker died of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles on Thursday (09Aug07). Shavelson was most famous for his direction of the 1958 movie Houseboat, starring Cary Grant and Sophia Loren. The film was nominated for an Oscar as was his 1956 film, The Seven Little Foys.
Shavelson worked as a writer for Bob Hope’s comedy radio show in the 1930s before going on to write or co-write more than 35 films. His autobiography, How to Succeed in Hollywood Without Really Trying, PS You Can’t! was published on his 90th birthday earlier this year (07). Shavelson also penned two novels and four non-fiction books and served three terms as president of the Writers Guild of America, West.

Los Angeles police are investigating claims of a sexual assault at HUGH HEFNER’s Playboy Mansion.
Cops are refusing to reveal details of the probe.
LAPD spokesman Jason Lee says, "For reasons of law and confidentiality that are critical in such investigations, no additional information will be released." Playboy bosses have no knowledge of the investigation, but publicity director Rob Hilburger has speculated it may be linked to a confrontation at Hefner’s Midsummer Night’s Dream part on Saturday (4Aug07), between a woman and her ex-boyfriend.
According to reports, the woman had taken out a restraining order on the man, and contacted security when he attempted to talk to her.
Hilburger says, "We obviously take this very seriously and we want to help anyway we can."

Rockers NINE INCH NAILS are turning their latest album YEAR ZERO into a TV show.
Frontman Trent Reznor has penned a story around their 2007 release, a concept album featuring the singer’s Orwellian forecast of the U.S. around the year 2022, and is currently posing the idea to various TV networks.
He says, "We’ve got a producer on board and have met with writers. If it works, it works and if it doesn’t, it doesn’t. I’m more interested in it being a television show than a film at this point. We’re about to pitch it to the network, so we’re a couple of weeks away from meeting all of the main people and we’ll see what happens." U.S rockers FOO FIGHTERS have credited trapped mine workers for inspiring the band to create "meaningful" music.
Frontman David Grohl reveals the group were touched after hearing a trapped miner in Tasmania, Australia, requested an iPod to listen to their music while waiting for a rescue team.
Bandmembers are now considering writing a song dedicated to miners Brant Webb and Todd Russell, who survived being trapped underground for two weeks in May last year (06). He says," Someone sent me an email telling me what was going on so I sent them a note and said, ‘Hey I hope you guys are hanging in there. "You’re in my thoughts and prayers and I hope our music is helping you through this and when you come out there’s a couple of cold beers and a couple of tickets to our show. "He gave me a gift that no one had ever given before. He made me feel like my music is maybe more meaningful than just jumping on stage after five beers.
"I thought that I should write something to dedicate to him because he definitely seemed like a hero."

Actress TORI SPELLING believes her baby son LIAM is made for COURTENEY COX’s daughter COCO - because the two tots are already affectionate play pals.
The Beverly Hills 90210 star and her spouse Dean McDermott were visiting friends near Cox and husband David Arquette’s beachfront property in Malibu, California, and Spelling is hopeful of three-month-old Liam and Coco, three, becoming romantically involved in the future.

Estranged couple SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and HEATHER MILLS are holidaying together in the US, with their three-year-old daughter BEATRICE, according to reports.
Despite their bitter divorce battle, the trio are spending time at McCartney’s home in the Hamptons on New York’s Long Island.
Mills and the former Beatle have been spotted working out at different gyms in the towns of East Hampton and Amagansett, after arriving at the popular summer retreat last week (ends3Aug07).

Both LINDSAY LOHAN’s parents are responsible for her bad behaviour, according to the actress’s longterm bodyguard TONT ALMEIDA.
Almeida, who worked for Lohan for three years until 2005, claims Dina and Michael Lohan failed to provide the 21-year-old with any structure - and kept her working to pay for their lifestyle.
He tells In Touch magazine, "From a young age, she dealt with her father’s physical, emotional and drug abuses as well as her mother’s drinking." Almeida also claims he had to pull Michael off his daughter - then 16 - after he stopped the car he was driving "and dragged her out of the car, pushed her up against the hood, screamed at her and called her a slut." He adds that Dina frequently "let her do whatever she wanted, just to keep her happy and working . . . (At her 16th birthday party) Lindsay drank whatever she wanted - I saw her drinking beer and mixed drinks with my own eyes (without Dina’s intervention)." He says, "Lindsay was the family cash cow - and she (Dina) resented it. They counted on her to pay their bills…I saw Lindsay exhausted, begging her mother for some time off." In the interview, Almeida goes on to claim Lohan’s parents allowed her to sleep with ex-boyfriend Aaron Carter when she was 15 and he 14, and that he caught her sniffing white powder in a nightclub when she was 18. He also alleges that the actress cut herself and threatened suicide during miserable teen years.

BOB HOSKINS blames his 1993 flop SUPER MARIO BROS on the "arrogance" of husband-and-wife directing team Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel.
The British actor, 64, played Mario in the film adaptation of the Nintendo video game, which was directed by married couple Morton and Jankel.
He says, "(It was) the worst thing I ever did. Super Mario Brothers. It was a nightmare. It had a husband-and-wife directing, whose arrogance had been mistaken for talent.
"After so many weeks their own agent told them to get off the set. F**king nightmare. F**king idiots.
"That’s the nature of the game, the whole experience was a nightmare."

Actor JACKIE CHAN is so busy with his movie career, his family have to contact him through his assistant.
The Rush Hour star, 53, has no plans for retirement just yet - his work schedule is booked up until 2010 - because he fears quitting the film industry early will cost him his luxurious lifestyle.
And he admits he is too busy even for his loved ones.
He says, "Even if my wife or son want something, they don’t call me. They call my manager, or my assistant. I am still concentrating on business. Because if I quit today, it’s bye bye everything."

ALIENS actor BILL PAXTON has laughed off his tough guy reputation - insisting he’s nothing like his screen image.

Oscar-winning actor and director CLINT EASTWOOD is now a much sought after composer - he has been recruited to write the score for a new movie.
Studio boss Harvey Weinstein has approached the Hollywood legend to create the music for John Cusack’s new drama Grace is Gone - after he scrapped the score already written by Max Richter.
Weinstein tells PageSix, "Clint’s unique understanding of the power of music and how it can impact a film will inspire audiences and is a beautiful companion to James Strouse’s touching story." Eastwood has composed in the past - but only for movies he has produced himself.

SIR MICK JAGGER’s ex-wife BIANCA has dismissed her status as a style icon insisting it happened "unintentionally".
Rolling Stone Jagger’s former flame was hailed as a fashion queen after her wedding to the rocker in St Tropez, France, in May 1971, when she wore a white fitted Yves St Laurent trouser suit without a bra.
But she admits it wasn’t intentional.
She explains, "My wedding suit and hat were designed by Yves St Laurent.
Everyone thinks I was making a deliberate fashion statement by wearing the jacket without a shirt, but they didn’t realise I was pregnant with Jade (Jagger, now fashion designer) when we married.
