British actors JOHN SIMM and PHILIP GLENISTER have turned down the chance to star in a U.S version of their hit TV show LIFE ON MARS.
Ally McBeal creator David E. Kelley is working on an American remake of the Emmy award-winning show which follows the experiences of a police officer who is transported back in time.
But Simms and co-star Glenister have refused to star in the remake, insisting it should remain a British show.
Simms says, "They wanted us to have U.S accents. But I don’t know why they have to remake everything.
"Anyway they have already got their own version of our show: Starsky and Hutch."

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star VANESSA HUDGENS hates being away from home during filming - because she has to do her own chores.
The 18-year-old - who is currently dating co-star Zac Efron - relies heavily on her mother to wash and iron her clothes and resents having to do it while away for work.
She says, "Being out there by myself made me realise how much I love being at home. Being independent is like so scary. Being out on my own and having to cook by myself and having to do my own laundry? I’m so used to my mom doing it for me.
"I think I want to go home, invest in a place and maybe not move there quite yet."

Actor SETH ROGEN is in awe of British funnyman SIMON PEGG - because he can’t believe how good his movie SHAUN OF THE DEAD is.
The Knocked Up comedian had a similar movie idea to Pegg’s 2004 zombie comedy, but was pleasantly surprised when he found out he had been beaten to the big screen by the Hot Fuzz star.
He says, "When I first saw Shaun Of The Dead, I thought, ‘F**k! F**k those guys!’ I’d been thinking of writing a zombie movie about two dudes, and then that came along. I couldn’t believe it! Not only are these guys quicker, they’re better than me, too!"

Four of DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES’ favourite gowns will be auctioned off to mark 10 years since the British royal’s death.
The WE TV network bought the four dresses at a Christie’s auction in New York a decade ago (97) and now plan to sell them off on online auction site eBay from Sunday (12Aug07), just weeks before the 10th anniversary of the Princess’ death on 31 August (07).
Among the collection is a pale-blue silk chiffon evening dress that Diana wore for the 1987 Cannes Film Festival and at the London opening of Miss Saigon two years later (89), reports the New York Daily News.
Kim Martin, general manager of WE TV, says bidding starts at $300,000 (£150,000) with all proceeds going to charity.
She says, "Princess Diana is one of the most beloved icons of the 20th century, not only because of her beautiful style but also her role as a mother and her dedication to charity."

Rap mogul IRV GOTTI wants to emulate the career of the late Atlantic Records founder AHMET ERTEGUN - and work until his death.
The Inc. boss, real name Irving Lorenzo, has also hailed veteran record label heads like Universal boss Doug Morris and 75-year-old J Records founder, Clive Davis, who both continue to work into their old age.
He says, "The music thing goes deep with me. I want to be like Doug Morris and Clive Davis. Until he died, Ahmet Ertegun was still going to the office.
I’m in that mode." Ertegun died in December (06) after seven weeks in a coma following a fall at a Rolling Stones concert.

LATEST: Fans of British group GIRLS ALOUD are fuming after learning they cannot obtain a refund for a cancelled gig by the band.
The Love Machine singers were forced to pull out of a concert in Plymouth, England scheduled for later this month (Aug07) when almost a third of the tickets failed to sell.
But fans of the band who purchased the £40 ($80) tickets for the gig in Newnham Park on 11 August (07) have been unable to contact Edge Promotions who organised the girls’ appearance - to obtain a refund.
Gig-goers have been struggling to get in touch with the company’s managing director Shaun Hooper, with employees of Edge Promotions insisting they have not seen Hooper for several days. A spokesperson for Girls Aloud’s agents, William Morris, says, "We were under the impression that there would be no problems with refunds and that it would be done immediately." Last week (ends03Aug07), Hooper told local reporters he had lost up to £60,000 ($120,000) after Girls Aloud pulled out of the event, insisting, "There was no malicious intention to do this and to rip people off. That’s the last thing I would want to do."

Hip-hop mogul SHAWN ‘JAY-Z’ CARTER has sent $2,500 (£1,250) worth of clothes from his fashion house to a Florida charity.
The rapper sent the Rocawear garments to the Campaign for Adolescent and University Student Empowerment (CAUSE) youth program in Spring Hill as a thank you for their efforts to improve their local community.
CAUSE program founder Matt Morton has agreed to appear on billboards for the new Rocawear campaign, titled I Will Not Lose, which features testimonials by individuals who have overcome various hardships.

Rocker COURTNEY LOVE has denied speculation she is too thin by announcing she has gained 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) on a unique cupcake diet.
The former Hole frontwoman has recently come under fire for shedding too much weight, but Love insists she is healthy and has blasted the attention surrounding her size.
She writes on her MySpace website, "I’ve put on 10 pounds (thank you Sprinkles cupcakes which I must admit are overrated).

The British beauty hates being branded a showbiz icon because she largely shuns the things associated with fame.

50 CENT has challenged KANYE WEST to a live presidential-style debate to determine who has the better album.
The two rappers are set to release their new albums - Curtis and Graduation respectively - on the same day next month (11Sep07) and although the Gold Digger star recently insisted there was no rivalry between them, 50 - real name Curtis Jackson - wants to battle West in a challenge posed by TV presenters Terrance J. and Rocsi from the U.S. network BET.
And the Candy Shop hitmaker doesn’t think West will have the nerve to turn up to the debate.
Speaking on BET’s 106 & Park show on Friday (03Aug07), Jackson said: "I accept the challenge. Kanye, he’s not going to want to show up. Just don’t be asking me if I am a conscious rapper. I know exactly what I am saying - so I am conscious."

A video documenting late glamour girl ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s breast surgery will not be released into the public domain, a judge has ruled.
Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff issued a temporary restraining order which prevents the release of the 1994 videotape during a hearing on Friday (03Aug07).
The injunction - which was granted at the request of Smith’s former attorney and executor of her will, Howard K. Stern - prevents the sale, distribution or dissemination of the videotape, reports New York Daily News.
In court documents, first obtained by CelebTV.com, Stern accused Texas doctor Gerald Wayne Johnson of sending a tape showing the procedure to Los Angeles-based memorabilia dealer Thomas Riccio.
Stern claims the surgery was taped without the former model’s consent.
However, Johnson claims all procedures are recorded with the patient’s permission and are kept confidential "during the patient’s lifetime." Johnson admitted he gave Riccio permission to use the video after Smith died.
Smith, 39, died of an accidental drug overdose in a hotel in Florida in February (07).

SIR ROGER MOORE is desperate to star alongside fellow 007 actor SIR SEAN CONNERY, and would do anything to bring him out of retirement.
The veteran star Moore, 79, took to the big screen as Connery’s replacement in the James Bond franchise in 1973 and would love the chance to team up with the 76-year-old Scottish actor and their pal Sir Michael Caine - but only if the script is good enough.
Moore says, "Sean, Michael and I are good friends. I’d still like to get together with the guys and drag Sean out of his self-imposed retirement.
"We need a damn good script and a talented director." Connery’s last big movie role was as Allan Quatermain in 2003’s The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

British rocker PETE DOHERTY was ordered to "sort himself out" by music producer STEPHEN STREET during the recording of BABYSHAMBLES’ new album - or risk putting the whole project in jeopardy.
The group’s frontman has been battling with heroin addiction for several years and in a London court on Tuesday (07Aug07) was warned he faces prison after being caught driving illegally while in possession of drugs earlier this year (07).
And Street reveals he was forced to reprimand the singer for his wild, drug-taking lifestyle because he believed Doherty was a real talent and didn’t want to "let down" the other three members of the group by walking out.
He says, "Pete wasn’t in a very good state for the first couple of weeks of making the record for the reasons that people know about. It was a bit worrying to be honest with you.
"There were a couple of times I had to fire warning shots across his bow, say, ‘Listen, you’ve got to sort yourself out here because if you don’t I can’t work with you’. I felt like I was going to let down the rest of the band if I walked away from things.
"Sometimes I had to sit down with Pete and have really good heart-to-hearts with him to get through all of that and connect with the real musician and artist that’s underneath..I wanted to prove to those people that he can make a decent record."

Actress GWYNETH PALTROW has called on celebrity parents KATE WINSLET and CATE BLANCHETT for advice on juggling her Hollywood career with motherhood.
Paltrow - who has two children with husband Chris Martin: three-year-old daughter Apple and one-year-old son Moses - took a brief career break following the birth of her first child in 2004 and struggled to get to used to being away from her kids while filming new movie Iron Man.
But the Shakespeare In Love star, 34, insists she will not be taking on as many new projects as she did before she had children.
She says, "It was really important for me to have that break. I’m not going to work like I did before I had kids. I want to call Kate Winslet and say ‘Can you tell me how to do this?’ or call Cate Blanchett and ask her to describe her working day. But it’s not going to be back-to-back films."

Actor BILL PAXTON was so keen to land the role in PSYCHO lll, he bribed ANTHONY PERKINS with chocolates and a personalised card. Paxton admits he brought gifts to his audition for the 1986 film in hope of persuading the director and casting crew to hire him. But his charm failed and the gifts were rejected.
He says, "I came very close to Psycho lll. It was just before Mother’s Day and I sent Anthony Perkins a box of chocolates with a Mother’s Day card that said, ‘To Mrs Bates, in care of Norman Bates’. He got a big kick out of it, but I didn’t get the part."

Veteran English actor BOB HOSKINS insists he is terrible at accents, despite acting for over 40 years.
The Mona Lisa star, 64, has had to frequently use American accents during his career and rather than naturally changing his accent Hoskins prefers taking a different approach.
He says, "I just get into the character and start thinking in his voice and hopefully I’ll start talking in that character’s voice.
"I’ve never been very good at accents. Americans have never picked me up on it, I must say!"

Screen legend JOAN FONTAINE is eyeing a return to movies for a cameo alongside current stars MEG RYAN, ASHLEY JUDD, EVA MENDES and DEBRA MESSING.
The 89-year-old has been tipped to appear in the long-awaited remake of George Cukor’s 1939 all-female classic The Women.
In the original, Fontaine starred as a timid wife alongside Norma Shearer, whose role will be reprised by Ryan, and Joan Crawford.
Rocker Sir Mick Jagger is one of the film’s producers and is also overseeing the soundtrack.
