COLLINS SLAMMED BY REAL ESTATE BROKER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

A real estate broker in L.A has slammed the interior design choices of veteran British actress JOAN COLLINS.
Hollywood estate agent Stephen Shapiro insists the Dynasty star lacked taste when it came to decorating her home, and even removed the wallpaper when she moved out of her California home.
He says, "Joan Collins was the worst. All mirrors and photographs of herself.
"She put in metal palm trees all over the inside of the house and when I sold the place she took the wallpaper with her. It ended up in her home in Dorking (England). I mean, you think she could have bought new wallpaper."

JONES REYNOLDS ADMITS GASTRIC-BYPASS SURGERY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:17 pm

Former THE VIEW host STAR JONES REYNOLDS has opened up about her dramatic weight loss, confessing she did undergo gastric-bypass surgery to obtain her new slimmer figure.
The 45-year-old confesses she was ashamed to admit the procedure for fear her fans would be disappointed.
In all, she has shed 160 pounds (72 kilograms) since having the operation in 2003, but only now boasts the confidence to talk about it after undergoing psychological therapy.
She tells Glamour magazine, "Everything about me was already so public (mostly my own doing - talk about dumb!), so of course everyone wanted to know what I had done. I was also terrified someone would have a tragic result after emulating me without making an informed decision with her doctor.
"But the complete truth is, I was scared of what people might think of me. I was afraid to be vulnerable, and ashamed at not being able to get myself under control without this procedure."

CHAN MOVIE ANGERS CHINA

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:14 pm

JACKIE CHAN’s new action comedy sequel RUSH HOUR 3 is facing release difficulties in his native country because it’s been branded "fundamentally anti-Chinese".
The Hong Kong-born actor’s film has prompted controversy over a scene where a family involved in organised crime visit Paris. The association with Triad gang members has reportedly angered Chinese authorities, according to Variety Asia.
Under strict rules, only 20 foreign releases a year are permitted in China, and Rush Hour moviemakers fear theirs may not make the cut.
However, censors at China’s Film Bureau insist the film has not been banned.
The organisation has the power to demand further editing of films considered offensive - as it did with the unflattering portrayal of Chow Yun-fat’s pirate character in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End earlier this year (07).

SIMPSON BOOK RIGHTS PASS TO GOLDMAN

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:14 pm

LATEST: The rights to O.J. SIMPSON’s controversial book IF I DID IT have finally been awarded to the family of RON GOLDMAN, whose murder the star was controversially cleared of.
A federal judge in Miami, Florida, approved the relatives’ settlement with a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee, giving them the rights to the book on Monday (30Jul07).
Former American football star Simpson was due to release the book - in which he hypothetically places himself at the scene of the murders of his wife Nicole Brown and her friend Goldman in 1994 - last year (06), but it was withdrawn by its publisher 10 days before its launch.
During Monday’s hearing Ron Goldman’s father broke down, saying afterwards, "After 13 years of trying to get some justice for Ron, today’s the first time that we had any sense of seeing some light at the end of the tunnel." Lawyers for the Goldmans reveal they plan to use publishing, film or TV deals from the book to help satisfy a $33.5 million (£16.8 million) wrongful death judgment won by the family against Simpson in 1997.
Relatives of Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown made a last minute bid for 40 per cent of the book proceeds but the judge rejected their plea.
However, under Monday’s ruling the Goldmans are required to give a court-appointed trustee 10 per cent of the first $4 million (£2 million) in gross proceeds and a percentage of all proceeds beyond that. The Brown family will receive most of that money.

BOLLYWOOD STAR DUTT JAILED

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:11 pm

LATEST: Bollywood star SANJAY DUTT has finally been sentenced to six years in jail for illegal possession of arms in relation to the 1993 serial bombings in Mumbai.
In June (07) Dutt’s sentencing was delayed following a legal challenge, but on Tuesday (31Jul07) Judge PD Kode said there was strong evidence against Dutt and he was not entitled to any leniency in sentencing.
Dutt has been on bail since 1995 after spending 18 months in prison during the initial investigations into the bombings and his lawyers had argued the actor should remain free on bail for good behaviour.
He can appeal against his sentence.
Earlier this year (07), Dutt was cleared of the more serious charge of conspiracy in the attacks, which claimed 257 lives.

LEVENE PAYS TRIBUTE TO SNYDER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:09 pm

Former THE CLASH rocker KEITH LEVENE has paid tribute to late TV talk show host TOM SNYDER.
The star was famously interviewed by Snyder alongside Public Image Limited bandmate John Lydon (formerly known as Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols) in 1980.
But the pair refused to co-operate with the host for 12 minutes - making it one of the most famous television interviews.
However, Levene believes the stunt has provided him with fond memories of the Snyder.
He says, "I am very sad to hear the news that Tom Snyder has passed away. He was a brilliant asset to television, a great example and role model.
"I had a memorable interview with Tom and memories of it are flooding back fast following this tragic news. Although it was a different style of interview, Tom still managed to keep his cool and his professionalism intact.
Tom is a TV talk show saint who will live in our memories forever - bless you Tom." Snyder passed away in San Francisco on Sunday (29Jul07) aged 71, after suffering from complications with leukaemia.

BBC DENIES BANNING THE GAME FROM FUTURE INTERVIEWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:09 pm

LATEST: The BBC has slammed reports it has banned rapper THE GAME from future radio interviews, insisting the broadcaster would never take such drastic action.
Complaints were lodged after the hip-hop star called gay males "faggots" and "not real men" during an appearance on Radio 1’s The Jo Whiley Show in July last year (06).
Last week (ends27Jul07), a BBC committee meeting ruled, "The Game’s comments were very offensive, completely unacceptable and clearly homophobic." However, network bosses denied they had completely banned the rapper from appearing on its airwaves, instead choosing to issue a stern reminder about language the BBC would not tolerate.
A Radio 1 representative tells AllHipHop.com, "The BBC does not ban artists, but we do have editorial guidelines making clear that we do not condone homophobic comments or bad language, which all artists are expected to follow when they are on air during a live interview."

KRS-ONE CANCELS SON’S MEMORIAL SERVICE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 1:08 pm

Rapper KRS-ONE and his wife SIMONE PARKER have pulled plans for a memorial service for their son RANDY HUBBARD PARKER, blaming "personal reasons" for the cancellation.
The late 23-year-old - KRS’ stepson - was found dead in his apartment in Atlanta, Georgia on 6 July (07).
Parker claims Randy’s suicide from a single gunshot wound to the head was related to severe depression.
In announcing the cancellation of the memorial service, which was due to take place in New York on 6 August (07), the couple thanked well-wishers and apologised for their late decision.
They tell AllHipHop.com, "If the hundreds of letters and responses to the announcement of the passing of our son are any indication, we know that through you, his life and spirit will forever be celebrated and live on.
"We extend our apologies to all who have come to our support, volunteered your time and services and planned to attend the service. We trust that you understand and respect our decision."

FOSTER DENIES USHER WEDDING RUMOURS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 am

R&B star USHER’s would-be bride TAMEKA FOSTER has denied rumours the couple have split, just days after their wedding was inexplicably cancelled.
The pair were due to wed on Saturday (28Jul07), but the nuptials were called off allegedly due to a string of differences in opinion between the couple and Usher’s disapproving mother.
But Foster insists the reasons for postponing the wedding presented by the press are wide of the mark.
She says, "No-one knows why we cancelled the wedding, but I can tell you that all of the reasons everyone is speculating and writing about are completely untrue." Pregnant Foster admits, however, she did check into hospital at the weekend (28-29Jul07) after she fell victim to pre-term labour: "We had a scare. But, I am fine and the baby is fine." Usher announced his stylist girlfriend Foster was pregnant in January (07) and the couple confirmed engagement reports in June (07).

STEWART ‘STEALS’ COMBS’ CAR

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:26 am

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS was the victim of a car theft - with ROD STEWART’s daughter KIMBERLY as the culprit.
The socialite decided to take the $700,000 (£350,000) vehicle for a spin during a party hosted by the hip-hop mogul in St Tropez - but forgot to inform Combs of her plan, according to reports.
A source tells British newspaper the Daily Mirror, "Diddy did not see the funny side at first. He had no idea it was a practical joke. He thought it was stolen.
"He had his flunkies on a wild goose chase looking all over the place for his car - it’s his baby. Diddy and his minders were stressing out until someone piped up that they had seen Kimberly running off giggling with the keys and a friend in tow." The car was reportedly returned to Combs the next morning.

SPEARS’ SONS COULD BE KIDNAPPED, WARNS LAWYER

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 am

BRITNEY SPEARS’ lawyer has expressed fears the troubled star could fall victim to child kidnappers, according to reports.
The singer was awarded joint custody of sons Sean Preston and Jayden James with ex-husband Kevin Federline at a court hearing on Monday (30Jul07).
But attorney Laura Wasser has ordered the court documents to "be sealed" as their contents could effect the kids’ safety.
Wesser says, "Such information greatly increases the chances that the actions of the media could threaten the safety of the minor children by, for example, causing a traffic accident or by exposing the minor children to criminals who might target the minor children for financial gain." The judge granted Wasser’s motion to withhold the documents pending a full hearing next month

Rowling had hoped her faithful fans would read the entire Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows and not race to the end, and now she regrets not putting the final chapter out separately.
She says, "I should have published the last chapter separately and forced you to read ’til the last.
"(After) 17 years work you kind of want people to reach it in the way you want them to reach it."

MARGULIES HONOURS GRANDMOTHER WITH NEW TV LAWYER ROLE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 am

Former E.R. star JULIANNE MARGULIES has dedicated her new TV legal eagle role to her grandmother, who was one of New York’s first female attorneys.
The actress returns to TV as the lead in new drama Canterbury’s Law, and admits she couldn’t turn the role down.
She says, "I always thought I’d be a lawyer before I discovered acting. My grandmother was one of the first women lawyers of New York State, so for me it was an honour.
"She graduated NYU Law School in 1924, and when she graduated she couldn’t take the bar exam because there was no women’s bar association in New York.
"My grandmother started the Women’s Bar Association in the Bronx with a whole bunch of other women… and that’s where she practiced." Margulies reveals she took her TV attorney role very seriously, learning all about the profession from a top federal defence attorney.
She adds, "I went down went to Centre Street in New York City, and I followed this amazing woman named Deidre Von Dornum. I followed her around for three weeks.
"I sat at defence tables with her. I went into the jails with her. They let me in everywhere. It was amazing how accommodating the judges all were. And she was a firecracker, and she let me pick her brain."

ZETA-JONES: ‘I CAN’T BOIL AN EGG’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 am

CATHERINE ZETA-JONES is disappointed she finds it impossible to master the art of boiling an egg.
The Welsh actress plays a chef in new restaurant-based romantic comedy No Reservations, but insists she’s not much use in the kitchen in real life.
She says, "You know, I still can’t boil an egg. I never get it runny enough if I want it runny, and I never get it hard-boiled enough before it explodes.
"But I can make you (Italian dessert) tiramisu anytime you want. Cheese on toast is always good too."
