Spain’s Crown Prince Felipe and his wife Princess Letizia have begun their annual summer holiday in Majorca.
The royal couple have joined King Don Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia at Marivent Palace, their summer residence just outside the Spanish island’s capital of Palma.
Felipe and Letizia have brought along their children, 20-month-old Princess Leonor, and eight-month-old Princess Sofia, for the sunshine getaway.
The king and queen have been holidaying at the royal residence since July 18.
Last week, keen sailor Carlos took part in the Breitling regatta.
Spain’s Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero is expected to make his annual visit to meet with the monarch at the palace on Thursday (02.08.07).
The royal group are expected to stay on the island until the end of August.
Meanwhile, the authors responsible for a cartoon depicting Felipe, 39, and 34-year-old Letizia having sex, which appeared on the front page of satirical magazine El Jueves two weeks ago, are now only facing a possible fine.
Guillermo Torres and Manel Fontevilla both faced a possible two-year prison sentence for insulting the prince, but this charge has now been dropped. They are still charged with slandering the royal family and bringing down the prestige of the royals.
The amount of the fine will be established when, and if, the case comes to court.
