Hollywood star THANDIE NEWTON has some advice for young single girls looking for love - abandon your pets.
The Crash star, who is married to director Ol Parker, admits she ditched her pet cat on meeting her husband and fears unattached women are using their pets as a "man substitute".
She says, "If you’re single, the first thing you need to do is ditch your cat.
"I got rid of my cat as soon as I met my husband, although, of course, I made sure it went to a good home.
"I realise that it was simply a man substitute and because I had got a real one, I didn’t need it anymore."
