Hollywood star THANDIE NEWTON has some advice for young single girls looking for love - abandon your pets.
The Crash star, who is married to director Ol Parker, admits she ditched her pet cat on meeting her husband and fears unattached women are using their pets as a "man substitute".
She says, "If you’re single, the first thing you need to do is ditch your cat.
"I got rid of my cat as soon as I met my husband, although, of course, I made sure it went to a good home.
"I realise that it was simply a man substitute and because I had got a real one, I didn’t need it anymore."

HARRY POTTER star EVANNA LYNCH has vowed to queue for hours to get her hands on the last book in the boy wizard series.
The Irish actress, who plays Luna Lovegood in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, will be visiting her local bookshop to purchase a copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday (21Jul07) - and doesn’t care if she has to wait in a queue all night.
She says, "I’m dreading Deathly Hallows being the final book. I’ve read the others loads of times.
"I get out of a course on Thursday night, go to a bookshop, queue all day Friday with my biggest Harry Potter fan friends, then read all of Saturday.
And the 15-year-old believes she can escape from the store unnoticed because Potter fans will be too excited to notice her.
She says, "Some people might recognise me in the queue, but everyone is going to be so excited about the book they won’t care about me."

Actress SANDRA BULLOCK can afford to be selective about her movie roles because she doesn’t need the cash.
The Crash star would consider reading the scripts of less lucrative movie parts, because she has no fear of them being unsuccessful.
She says, "I can now choose the roles that I want to do rather than ones that I think will make money.
"I know I’m very lucky to be in this position and, as long as I have people around me to tell me I’m not about to go broke, I’m happy to do any movie that barely breaks even."

Actor MEL GIBSON has sold his 76 acre estate for a staggering $40 million (£20 million) to an unnamed buyer.
The actor-turned-filmmaker sold the Connecticut property which boasts 12 bathrooms, a cinema, two guest houses, a pool and its own maze.
Gibson still owns properties in Malibu, California, Australia and Guanacaste, Costa Rica. He also owns Mago Island in Fiji which he bought in 2004 for $16 million (£8 million).

Hollywood icon CLARK GABLE’s one time love interest ANITA PAGE insists the actor was not perfect - he had bad breath and false teeth.
Gable’s former girlfriend and leading lady Page made the discovery on the set of their 1931 movie The Easiest Way, confessing it was a horrible shock to find the 30-year-old had bare gums.
She recalls, "One day on the set all these young girls arrived. ‘Oh, Mr Gable’ they squawked at once. ‘You are so handsome’, they went on and on.
"Anyway, when they left I turned to Clark and said ‘Hey gorgeous, how does it feel to be God’s gift to women?’ "’Wanna see?’ he said. He took a piece of candy from his blazer pocket and had a bite, and to my horror, as he chewed he pulled his false teeth out! They stuck solid to his gum.
"The rotting stubs in his jaw smelt something awful."

Country singer MIRANDA LAMBERT once almost shot an ex-boyfriend in the face because she thought he was an intruder.
The 23-year-old, who is currently dating fellow country star Blake Shelton, admits she held a gun at her unnamed ex’s head after he surprised her with a late-night visit.
She tells American magazine Blender, "I heard a noise outside my house and saw something flash across the window, so I got my revolver and opened the door like they do on (TV show) Cops.
"He came around the corner, and I was like, ‘That was pretty stupid. I would have shot you and then dragged you into my house, so it looked like you were breaking in.’"

Drummer TOM KLINESMITH has quit cult rockers ROYAL ANGUISH.
Klinesmith leaves Royal Anguish just as the Florida group is preparing to enter a recording studio to tape a new album.
Frontman Matt Knowles says, "While this was not a decision we wanted to make, it had become increasingly clear that this was the decision that was the right thing for all parties involved.
"The band and its affiliates all unanimously agreed. As well, Tom came to the same conclusion on his own time.
"Tom had made some personal decisions back in December of last year (06) that we, as a band, did everything in our power to accommodate, but it became clear that the situation had become a detriment to the forward progress of Royal Anguish, and we were unable to continue in this constrictive format any longer.
"We wish things could have worked out with Tom but it’s clear to all parties involved that this is the best thing for everyone."

Rapper T.I. has defended the use of the word "nigger" in rap music, insisting African-American artists have earned the right to say it.
The hip-hop star - real name Clifford Harris - admits he would be infuriated if a white person used the racial term.
He says, "Just because a bunch of rappers are using the word ‘nigger’, you can’t say it’s fair for a white college student to feel like he can use the ‘n’ word.
"We went through the anguish. We’re out here being discriminated against, so we deserve and reserve the right to use or not use that word."

SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS’ ex-girlfriend KIM PORTER is seeking $1 million (£500,000) a year in childcare for their three children, according to reports.
Model Porter ended her 10 year romance with the hip-hop star last week (10July) and is now hoping to claim maintenance for their children Christian, nine, and seven-month-old twin daughters D’Lila Star and Jessie James.
A source tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, "(His children) mean everything to him and any decisions taken here will have their best interests at heart." A spokesman for Combs says "Anything like this (settlement) is pure speculation." Combs already pays $30,000 (£15,000) a month to Misa Hylton Brimm, the mother of his other son, Justin.

Actress CYBILL SHEPHERD was so nervous about baring all in her movie debut THE LAST PICTURE SHOW, she asked her experienced co-stars if she should disrobe.
The former model called a meeting with Cloris Leachman, Eileen Brennan and Ellen Burstyn and asked them if they’d strip if they were her.
She recalls, "I asked each of them… ‘If you were me in this movie, with this director, Peter Bogdanovich, would you take your clothes off?’ And they said, ‘Yes.’" Shepherd admits she wouldn’t have disrobed in the film if it wasn’t for the fact she was in love with The Sopranos star Bogdanovich at the time.
She adds, "I fell in love with Peter… I fell in love with him as a man…
before I came to understand that he was a great director. I would not have done a nude scene if he hadn’t been a great director." Years later, after Shepherd sued Playboy magazine for printing an unauthorised naked print of the actress which Bogdanovich cut from the film, she insisted the director put the shot of her breasts back in the film’s re-release.
She says, "I said, ‘Put that shot of my breasts back in; they looked great then."

CATHERINE ZETA-JONES has created the perfect sandwich - but husband MICHAEL DOUGLAS refuses to eat it because it’s "gross".
The Welsh actress reveals she has always been partial to smoked salmon sandwiches on brown bread with potato chips in the middle crushed down, and now she’s added lemon juice, salt and pepper.
She says, "I had them during each of my pregnancies and I actually had it two nights ago for dinner as well. It’s one of those comfort foods I really love.

The British actress admits the make-believe scenes, in which she had to pretend things were flying around her, left her feeling nauseous.
She says, "The Hall Of Prophecies where the globes are, that was just complete green space and a just total empty room. And it’s pretty horrible.
"It’s really discombobulating and you can do some really bad acting in green screen. And a lot of time you feel so out of touch and not grounded and actually it’s because you’re in space and you have no idea what’s around you.
"It is really throwing and also it makes me feel sick actually that green because it’s so bright."

Actor SAM ROCKWELL financed his way through acting school by working part-time as a private detective.
The Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind star was desperate for work and found himself trailing cheating husbands and wives.
He says, "I actually interned for a private detective. It was about 15 years ago, when I was in acting class, and this guy was like, ‘Hey, you want to make some money? Then come with me.’ "It was a lot of boring research and other stuff you don’t care about. But I had to do some weird things, like trail a woman and a man who were having an affair. We videotaped them, I was driving the car, and my friend was videotaping.
"It was really sleazy. I think we made $50 (£25) or something. All that stuff helps with acting though."

Late comedian RICHARD PRYOR’s daughter is attempting to annul her father’s marriage to her stepmother.
ELIZABETH PRYOR has filed paperwork in Los Angeles, claiming her father’s marriage to Jennifer Lee Pryor should be annulled due to fraud.
The tragic funnyman married Jennifer in the early 1980s but the couple split and later divorced. They were remarried in 2001 and stayed married until his death in 2005.

A lost JOHNNY CASH concert has been rescued from the vaults of the late country icon’s record label and is to be released as a new live CD.
Cash performed a series of classics he rarely played live at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, New Jersey in July 1990, but many music executives forgot the concert was on record.
Highlights include Cash’s first performance of What Is Man? and his only recordings of Wonderful Time Up There and A Beautiful Life. The concert also featured his only live recording of Life’s Railway To Heaven.
The performance also contains duets between Cash and his wife June Carter Cash on fan favourites Jackson and The Wreck Of Old ‘97.
The concert will be released as Johnny Cash - The Great Lost Performance later this month (24Jul07).

R&B star R. KELLY is to shoot another 10 episodes of his TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET drama after signing a new deal with U.S. cable network IFC.
The singer has already enjoyed chart success with his ‘hiphopera’, which was accompanied by a short film, in which he starred as ladies’ man Sylvester.
The film then became a 12-episode DVD last year (06) and now Kelly has struck a deal with IFC to shoot an additional 10 episodes of his sage of infidelity.
Bosses at the cable network also plan to air the original 12 episodes.

Rapper MISSY ELLIOT turned nasty in front of her dancers after they trashed her home.
The hitmaker invited her backing dancers to stay with her and work on new material but she went "ballistic" when they abused her hospitality.
She tells GQ magazine, "I have a couple of my dancers staying at my house they’re with me because I’m starting on my album, just to get a vibe.
"They’ve got cups in the sink, underwear on the floor. My house started to looking like a trash can. They were dirty dancers - that’s the perfect word for it.
"I told them to clean up but they didn’t do nothing but push it in the corner. So I just went ballistic."
