RIHANNA STRUGGLES WITH SPLIT PERSONALITY
R&B star RIHANNA is struggling to reconcile her professional persona with her ‘real self’ - the character she is away from the bright lights and microphone.
The Umbrella singer - real name Robyn Fenty - burst onto the music scene in 2005 with hit single Pon De Replay and has since become a household name under the pseudonym Rihanna, her middle name.
However, the 19-year-old confesses it’s been difficult balancing public expectations of her with the personality she is at home.
She tells the August/September (07) issue of Vibe Vixen, "It wasn’t that (my management or the label) told me what to do. It was more of what I couldn’t do.
I couldn’t wear red lipstick. I couldn’t wear my hair in a ponytail; all kinds of stupid things.
"Being ‘Rihanna’ wasn’t natural. So I rebelled. I’m doing me. Now, Robyn and Rihanna are much more similar."
