LATEST: Black columnist/radio host JAWN MURRAY has responded to USHER’s open letter to fans asking them to ignore the press lies about him, urging the R&B singer to "take a break".
Usher has received negative press and criticism from fans after firing his manager mother Jonetta Patton and his press representatives. Many critics have accused Usher’s pregnant fiancee Tameka Foster of influencing his recent career decisions.
After Usher wrote on open letter via America’s People magazine, declaring "I am not being led" and accusing "some media and bloggers have been totally intrusive".
In response, leading journalist Murray, has written in his AOL Black Voices column, "As an artist who was apparently primed to be heir to the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson, you should have expected that you’d receive the type of scrutiny that you are currently dealing with. You have to know it comes with the territory…
"While none of us will deny that you are a great performer and talented singer, many of us are worried about your superstar status strictly based on decisions you have recently made.
"Nonetheless, my suggestion to you is to take a break. Disappear for a while.
Get married, go on your honeymoon and have your first born quietly. Stop trying to force your friends, family, fans and the media to accept Foster. You’re really coming across like a parent trying to feed brussel sprouts to a child.
No more letters to the media, no more phone calls to radio personalities and no more of anything else that will make people question your current state of mind! More importantly, no more denying things that are true.
"More importantly, you only have one mother! The worst thing you could do is to not mend your relationship with her as soon as possible."

Actor MATT DAMON regrets starving himself for his role in COURAGE UNDER FIRE because it led to bad health.
Damon lost almost 50 pounds (3 stone 9 pounds) to realistically play the role of a heroin addict in the 1996 movie.
But The Departed star admits his strict exercise and diet regime was too dramatic.
He says, "I went too far. I got sick and I wouldn’t do that again because it was just too much. At the same time it helped the performance. I didn’t have to act at all - I was a wreck.
"I was getting dizzy spells and hot flashes. I didn’t say anything to anyone for a while because I was afraid I might be really ill."

LATEST: Hollywood beauty KATE HUDSON has laughed off reports she is dating U.S.

Former lovers BRAD PITT and GWYNETH PALTROW are set to reunite onscreen for upcoming movie DIRTY TRICKS.
The couple, who broke off their engagement after a three year love affair in 1997, will reportedly play husband and wife in the new picture.
But according to reports in the U.S., Pitt’s partner Angelina Jolie is said to be "quite concerned" over the onscreen reunion.
The film, which is based on the aftermath of the famous Watergate scandal, will also star Meryl Streep and Sharon Stone.

Norwegian royal PRINCESS MARTHA LOUISE has announced she is a clairvoyant and is planning to use her special gift to connect school pupils with "their angels".
The princess, 35, says she discovered her gift as a child and has only recently decided to go public with her controversial claims.
The royal, a trained physiotherapist, will work with students at the Astarte school, which will cost 12,000 kroner ($2,100/£1,050) per semester.
She says, "I learnt how to systematise my impressions and to read other (people’s minds), and through the horses I learnt to communicate with the animals on a deeper level.
"It was while I was taking care of the horses that I got in contact with the angels. I have lately understood the value of this important gift and I wish to share it with other people, maybe with you."

Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation has won a battle over rights to the domain name of THE SIMPSONS MOVIE, after a cybersquatter used the website for sexually explicit material.
The film giant filed a complaint to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) over the use of the film’s name in the internet address of a site registered by Keith Malley of New York. He had posted graphic images of the yellow cartoon family in sexual positions on it.
Earlier this week (begs23Jul07) however, WIPO ruled ownership must be handed back to Twentieth Century Fox, which owns the rights to both the new film and TV series.
Malley was deemed to have "no rights or legitimate interests with respect to the domain name" and was ordered to return it immediately.
WIPO added Malley’s "aim in registering the disputed domain name was to profit from and exploit" Twentieth Century Fox’s trademark to promote its own interests.

Singer TRAVIS McCOY regrets his teenage tattoo - because the image of a graffiti can on his arm reminds him of his criminal past.
The Gym Class Heroes frontman loved illegally spraying artwork in areas of his hometown of Geneva, New York as a child and even had a spray can tattooed onto his arm.
But the hip-hop star said the tattoo is one of his biggest regrets.
He says, "I liked to graffiti when I was younger and when I was 15 I got a spray can tattooed on my arm. I come from a small town and was one of two kids that wrote graffiti, so it was like the scarlet letter, the dumbest idea ever! If anything ever went down, they’d come to my house like, ‘Yeah sure, it wasn’t you a**hole, with that tattooed on your arm’."

English rockers COLDPLAY are recording their fourth album in churches across Barcelona, Spain.
The Fix You hitmaker are recording their follow-up to 2005 hit album X&Y in south east Spain and admits the Catalan spirit of the locals is beginning to influence their album.
Writing on their website, the band says, "We’ve been travelling light on acoustic guitar, a couple of mics, a laptop and some headphones.
"We’re recording in Barcelona - moving from church to church, setting up where we can: in front of the altar, under the pulpit. We’ve been playing at the feet of archangels." Despite promising Hispanic influences on the new disc, the group have promised they will refrain from using "maracas or castanets, but a vibrancy of colourfulness that owes much to the atmosphere of Buenos Aires and Barcelona.
The affect is subtle but important."

Singer CHESTER BENNINGTON credits his LINKIN PARK bandmates for helping him through his difficult divorce.
The In The End hitmaker - who is now married to former Playboy model Talinda Bentley - met his first wife Samantha in fast food restaurant Burger King, but the pair divorced in 2005 after nine years of marriage.
And Bennington thanks his bandmates for their support during the difficult split.
He says, "For a number of years before the marriage split up there were times when it wasn’t good. "It could be very difficult but it never became an issue with the band. They never said ‘your f***ing personal life is getting too much for us to take, you need to knock that s**t off’. "There was a lot of respect and understanding. LATEST: British rockers THE KLAXONS have been forced to cancel their upcoming gigs in Australia to give their frontman JAMIE REYNOLDS more time to heal his broken leg.
The singer/bassist, 26, broke his leg after leaping from the stage during the group’s sex at the Garden Nef Festival in Angouleme, France on Saturday (21Jul07).
After cancelling Sunday’s (22Jul07) gig in Brittany, France, the group have now confirmed they will have to cancel their Australian concerts in Sydney and Perth on 2 and 8 August (07) respectively.
Reynolds writes on the group’s MySpace page, "For those of you that the story of last week’s festival in Angouleme hasn’t yet seeped through I’ll give you the shortened and less painful version.
"As per usual I jumped from the stage on the final song… only this time I’d drastically misjudged the approx 12 foot distance between the stage and the grass and landed with a larger than expected velocity on my right foot. The result has left me in hospital until they let me out in an hour’s time with a broken tibia (the bone between the knee and the foot) and a 3 inch plate to hold the break in place.
"The doctors say that if I spend the next two week’s with the foot elevated then there is a chance of a recovery without further complications but the result is that we’ve had to cancel next week’s Australian tour until some point in the future."

The Straight Up singer has blasted rumours she was dropped from the project by movie bosses, but blames her busy schedule for parting ways with the production.
In a statement released to UsMagazine.com, her representative says, "She was not only taping American Idol three days at week, she was also filming her Bravo reality series Hey Paula! five days a week as well. In addition, she was in the process of not only expanding her successful QVC jewellery line but also coming up with the first scent in her new perfume line Sexy Thoughts.
"Something had to give and ultimately that was Bratz."

MATT DAMON believes troubled actress LINDSAY LOHAN will bounce back from her recent drink driving arrest, declaring "she’s very talented".
The Mean Girls star was arrested for driving under the influence and possession of cocaine in the early hours of Tuesday morning (24Jul07). She is currently free on $25,000 (£12,500) bail and is seeking "medical care", according to her lawyer.
Damon says, "I think there a lot of people who want to help her out, and it’s a very personal thing. Most people know someone in their lives that’s struggling with a disease like that, and the reality is you can only support them and it’s got to come from them - it’s her choice ultimately.
"I mean, look, she’s very young, she’s very talented; it’s easy to look from the outside and say, ‘Oh, you have this big opportunity.’ "It’s really hard to know that when you’re in the middle of it, and to see life from any other perspective other than your own - particularly when you’re that young. She’s obviously hit a chord with people, because people are so fascinated with her, so everybody’s pulling for her, that’s for sure."
