DJ HERC HONOURED IN NEW YORK
Jamaican music producer DJ KOOL HERC has been honoured for his contribution to music by a U.S. congressman Hip-hop star DJ Herc - real name Clive Campbell - returned to his former Bronx apartment on Monday (23Jul07) to be honoured in a Congressional Record by New York congressman José E. Serrano.
Senator Charles E. Schumer also attended the ceremony.
He says, "The building was more than bricks and mortar; it’s ground zero for hip-hop’s birth.
"This building, which housed hip-hop’s founding father."
