‘Sound of Music’ going on 24/7

A new TV channel in Austria has just been launched which will show ‘The Sound of Music’ 24/7.
The classic film, starring Julie Andrews as a nun, will be shown non-stop in hotels and guesthouses in Salzburg, which is where the movie was shot.
Producers decided to launch the channel as surveys have revealed that 70 per cent of tourists only visited Salzburg because of the film.
‘The Sound of Music’ - which is virtually unknown in Austria where it is called ‘My Songs, My Dream’ - tells the story of the Von Trapp family who fled across the Alps to escape the Nazis after Hitler took over their country in 1938.
