MICHELLE PFEIFFER, RENE RUSSO and KIM BASINGER were among the actresses lined up to play JOHN TRAVOLTA’s young bride in URBAN COWBOY, a part which ended up going to DEBRA WINGER.
Travolta, who appears alongside Pfeiffer in new movie musical Hairspray, recalls the actress’ audition, admitting he was stunned by her beauty - and that’s what cost her the part.
He explains, "She was very good. She could act it, but Debra was this more kind of cowgirl type thing. Michelle and the other girls were more beauties."
