LANGHAM ‘VICTIM’ BRANDED A FANTASIST
LATEST: The woman who has accused British comedy actor CHRIS LANGHAM of sexually assaulting her has been described as a "fantasist" by the defence.
The alleged victim, who is now 25, claims she had a sexual relationship with The Thick Of It star, now 58, when she was 14.
In Maidstone Crown Court in Kent, England on Wednesday (18Jul07), the woman said the pair were nearly caught in the middle of a sex act by a maid at a hotel.
Langham’s lawyer David Whitehouse said, "You are suggesting that my client took your virginity. You say when you were 14. But the trouble is your relationship with your previous boyfriend was over before you went out with Chris Langham, if that’s what you did." The alleged victim replied, "No. I can’t remember parts of my life." Whitehouse responded, "This is the part of your life when you are telling us you can remember in great detail having sex with my client." The woman has told the court she first had sexual intercourse with the BAFTA winner at a party in April 1996, while Whitehouse countered it took place in summer 1997, meaning she was 15 at the time.
Langham claims the woman seduced him in a Hertfordshire, England hotel in January 2001, when she was 18. She denies that claim.
Langham is charged with 10 counts of indecent assault on the girl, as well as 15 counts of making indecent images of a child.
The trial continues.
