BIEL: ‘PHOTOSHOOTS ARE UNSEXY’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:32 pm

JESSICA BIEL is astonished men find her magazine photospreads sexy, because shooting them is the most uncomfortable and unnatural experience.
The actress explains it takes hours standing in awkward positions to create the polished effect of a covershoot.
Biel tells Parade, "It’s never nearly as sexy doing it as it appears in a magazine. You’re sort of laughing through the photo shoot because it’s funny to take yourself so seriously.
"I could never be a model because you’re always standing in an awkward position and your back hurts, and you’re wearing heels lying on a rock or in the sand or something. You’re like, ‘This is weird. I’m uncomfortable. I’m itching. I need to scratch.’ "So I would much rather laugh and do a funny sexy scene."

LAW TRAVELS TO AFGHANISTAN TO PROMOTE UN PEACE DAY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:29 pm

Actor JUDE LAW has travelled to war-torn Afghanistan to help promote the United Nations’ Peace Day.
The Alfie star has teamed up with British filmmaker Jeremy Gilley to film a documentary of their travels in the Middle Eastern country, where citizens have been struggling to return some normalcy to their lives since the start of the War in Afghanistan in 2001.
Gilley - who was instrumental in convincing the UN to adopt Peace Day in 2001 - has previously filmed in Afghanistan, but recruited Law for his latest documentary to raise the profile of the global event.
Speaking from the capital of Kabul, Law - an ambassador of Peace Day - says, "Afghanistan will be the focal point for the second film, so it seemed important that Jeremy also have a sounding board, a third-party perspective on his trip.
"This film is about documenting and seeing how Peace Day can save lives.
Wouldn’t it be a wonderful international message to come from a country which is perceived as a country purely of conflict, that this message of peace can sing out of it?" This year’s UN Peace Day will be held on 21 September (07) and Gilley’s documentary is expected to premiere in Afghanistan in 2008.

GYLLENHAAL WANTS TO BANISH BATMAN HOLMES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:29 pm

MAGGIE GYLLENHAAL wants to banish the memory of KATIE HOLMES from her role in the forthcoming Batman movie - and is confident she isn’t just "some generic lady in a dress".
The Secretary star insists she was singled out for the role as Batman’s lover Rachel Dawes in The Dark Knight - the latest installment in the Caped Crusader franchise - by director Chris Nolan, and believes she will bring a new angle to the superhero’s love interest.
She says, "I’m not thinking of it as a role that anyone’s played before. I’m not walking into Katie Holmes’ performance. I’m thinking of it as an opportunity to play somebody who’s alive and smart. Chris asked me to do this because he wanted me, not because he wants some generic lady in a dress." And the actress admits she is looking forward to performing her own stunts in the film: "I’m really excited about it. I mean, it’s not some silly action movie: Chris Nolan is directing, Christian Bale’s starring. I’m really excited and curious about doing a couple of stunts in Batman."

Reformed Hollywood wildchild LINDSAY LOHAN refuses to study her scripts ahead of filming, declaring "everything is on set".
The Mean Girls star has been criticised by former co-stars, including Jane Fonda and William H. Macy for turning up late on set and last year (06) film producer James G. Robinson criticised the 21-year-old for being "discourteous, irresponsible and unprofessional" on the set of Georgia Rule.
And Lohan admits she doesn’t spend too long preparing for film roles, preferring to avoid rehearsals and stay away from acting classes.
She says, "I have never taken an acting class. I don’t rehearse. I don’t read my lines the night before.
"Everything is on set."

DONATELLA STRUGGLED TO MEET EXPECTATIONS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:23 pm

Italian designer DONATELLA VERSACE struggled to meet the fashion industry’s expectations of her following the murder of her brother Gianni.
Donatella took over as head of design at the Versace fashion house after her elder brother Gianni was gunned down by Andrew Cunanan on the steps of his Miami, Florida mansion in July 1997.
The 52-year-old marked the 10th anniversary of Gianni’s death on Sunday (15Jul07) by lending some of his creations to a ballet production in Milan.
Donatella says, "For the last four months, I’ve been going through the archives for the ballet. Each costume I found represents a memory. I still hear Gianni’s voice, saying, ‘don’t make a mistake’, and I know he would be proud. I couldn’t think of a better way to mark the 10th anniversary. If there is a superpower, he’s there.
"It’s a presence that hasn’t always been a comfort. The hardest part was the expectation that I somehow had to be my brother, to become Gianni.
"But how could I? But everyone was watching me. The comparison was always there. Was I more like Gianni, or less? Were the clothes what he would have designed? I felt lost, confused. But I had to keep going."

SHARPTON CALLS FOR IMUS’ RETURN TO RADIO

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:20 pm

Civil rights activist REVEREND AL SHARPTON has made a controversial u-turn over his treatment of shamed U.S. DJ DON IMUS - calling for the star to be reinstated as a broadcaster.
Imus was axed from CBS Radio in April (07) after he called the mostly-African American Rutgers University Women’s Basketball Team "nappy-headed hos" on his radio show, with Sharpton instrumental in the protest which led to the sacking.
But Sharpton believes Imus should be allowed to make a return to radio - on the condition he would no longer use insults concerning race and gender.
He says, "He has a right to make a living. We had never asked him to never work again." Martin Garbus, Imus’ attorney, declined to comment.
Earlier this month (Jul07), comedian/actor Chris Rock urged for "calm" over the treatment of Imus.

PETA URGE SPEARS TO GIVE UP NEW DOG

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

LATEST: Animals right campaigners People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) have joined America’s Humane Society in condemning BRITNEY SPEARS’ recent purchase of a puppy.
Spears has come under fire for buying a Yorkshire Terrier called London from a pet store. She has previously owned three other dogs Lacey, Lucky and Bit-Bit, but has not been seen with the pooches for months.
PETA Vice President Dan Mathews says, "Britney needs a new puppy about as much as Lindsay Lohan needs a drink.
"She can barely look after herself and her kids, and she’s tossed away so many dogs before. The only dog Britney is responsible enough to care for is a stuffed toy.
"She needs to surrender him to her local shelter for placement in a real home."

CLIPSE: ‘LIL’ WAYNE IS NO LEGEND’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:17 pm

Hip-hop duo CLIPSE has blasted rapper LIL’ WAYNE for proclaiming he is the "greatest rapper alive", insisting he has only risen to fame by copying other people’s styles.
The Wamp Wamp hitmakers claim Lil’ Wayne’s boasting of his lyrical skills are laughable because he is constantly trying to imitate his peers Jay-Z and Jim Jones.
Rapper Pusha T says, "You can’t bite everybody’s styles. You can’t try to rap like Jay-Z, dress like the Clipse, become a coke dealer after five albums, and now dress like Jim Jones. You can’t do all that and be a legend. You have to be a trendsetter and he ain’t setting any trends." This is not the first time the two parties have been caught up in a war of words - they last exchanged insults in 2006 when Lil’ Wayne criticised their lack of presence in the music industry and hit out at the duo’s mentor, superproducer Pharrell Williams.
He proclaimed: "I don’t see no f**king Clipse. This is a f**king legend you’re talking to right here. Who the f**k is Pharrell?"

DIDDY ILL AFTER NIGERIA TRIP

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

Nigeria’s ThisDay festival has hit the stars hard - a day after former DESTINY’S CHILD star KELLY ROWLAND passed out onstage, rapper SEAN ‘DIDDY’ COMBS was forced to cancel a string of commitments after falling ill.
Rowland collapsed during her set at the charity show on Sunday (15Jul07) and was taken to a hospital in Lagos, where she was treated for dehydration.
And now sources close to Diddy have revealed the rap mogul also fell ill during his trip to Nigeria, but his symptoms didn’t develop until he returned home to New York.
Internet gossip Marc Malkin reports the rapper-designer had a "dangerously high 105 degree" fever at one point - and was forced to cancel a planned shoot for a Macy’s commercial in New York on Wednesday (18Jul07).
Diddy is expected to be well enough to appear live on cable network BET on Thursday (19Jul07), where he’ll premiere the video for his new single Through the Pain.
A spokesman says, "He’s resting now. He’s feeling better."

BON JOVI DEMANDS ENERGY DRINK NAME CHANGE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 8:14 pm

Rocker JON BON JOVI is threatening legal action against the makers of energy drink Mijovi - because he thinks the beverage bears too much similarity to his own name.
Marcos Carrington launched the coffee-based product in 2004 and claims he was inspired to name the drink Mijovi after his girlfriend Jovita.
But the Bad Medicine singer is demanding Carrington change the product label - which is also marketed using the slogans "itsmijovi" and "itsmilife" - or face a court battle.
In a recent letter to Carrington, Bon Jovi’s lawyer Peter Laird says, "As you should be aware, one of Bon Jovi’s most popular songs is entitled It’s My Life.
"We hereby demand that you immediately cease and desist all further use of the name Mijovi and It’s My Life." Carrington has since agreed to stop the use of "itsmilife" in his marketing campaigns, but protests: "It is just unfair. (itsmilife) means it’s my jovial life.
"It is unfair because Mijovi has nothing to do with Bon Jovi."
