Catherine said: ‘This sounds so crazy but I’m obsessed with smoked salmon sandwiches on ground bread with potato chips in the middle, crushed down. ‘I had it with each of my pregnancies and I actually had it two nights ago for dinner. It’s one of those comfort foods.’ The stunning brunette, who stars as a top chef in new movie ‘No Reservations’, often rewards herself with her favourite sandwich after a gruelling workout.
She said: "Exercise keeps my brain sane and gives me energy, but I have to admit I’m not a fitness fanatic. ‘I’m not going to lie and tell you I do have a regime. I’ve got to drag myself to the gym like everybody else, but when I finish it I do enjoy it. I can eat more smoked salmon sandwiches with potato chips, crushed down in the middle!’ Catherine, who lives in Bermuda with husband Michael Douglas and their two children, admits she gets lonely sometimes and misses the buzz of city life.
She explained: ‘Bermuda has been great for bringing up children, taking them to school without any hassle and never being photographed.
"But there are drawbacks. Socially, we’ve got a lot of friends in Los Angeles, a lot of friends in New York. We have a lot of friends in Bermuda but it’s just a different life and I appreciate coming back to the city more than I ever did before.’

The Sheffield band are in line to scoop the coveted music prize for second album ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’, while Amy, 23, has been nominated for her hit second LP ‘Back to Black’.
Amy and the Arctic Monkeys – who walked away with the prize last year for debut album ‘Whatever People Say I am, That’s What I’m Not’ - are joined by ten other acts on this year’s shortlist, which recognises the best British album of the last 12 months.
Other nominees include The View, for ‘Hats Off to the Buskers’, the Klaxons, for debut ‘Myths of the Near Future’ and Jamie T’s ‘Panic Prevention’.
Previous winner rapper Dizzee Rascal is in the running with ‘Maths + English’, four years after winning the prize for his debut ‘Boy In Da Corner’.
Simon Frith, who chairs the judging panel, said: "This year’s Nationwide Mercury Prize shortlist marks the emergence of a wealth of eclectic talent making music with great energy, excitement and personality." Amy and the Arctic Monkeys have already been installed as joint favourites to walk away with the accolade by bookmakers who are offering odds of 4/1.
The winner, who will be announced on September 4, will collect also £20,000 prize money.

Winona told Vogue magazine: "It’s this weird pressure that I probably shouldn’t even talk about. You know how people ask, ‘Who is the love of your life?’ God, I hope I haven’t met that person yet, in a way, because I’m single. I hope I haven’t had that, since that would be sad.’ Winona also spoke about her conviction for shoplifting when she was caught stealing from the Saks Fifth Avenue department store, in Beverly Hills, in 2001.
The actress has blamed her bizarre behaviour on prescription painkillers.
She explained: ‘Two months prior to my arrest, I broke my arm in two places, and the doctor was giving me a lot of Oxycodone and I was taking it at first to get through the pain. And then there was this weird point when you don’t know if you are in pain but you’re taking it.
‘Have you ever taken painkillers? It isn’t a reckless state, like you’re out of your head. It’s just confusion.
"It all happened in the December after the September 11 terrorist attack. I couldn’t believe so much attention was being paid to me, when terrorists had just attacked us, and there was all this really important news going on. It was embarrassing." The 35-year-old brunette refuses to feel guilty about the incident because she didn’t "physically" hurt anyone, but says the experience helped her to stop taking Oxycodone.
Winona said: ‘I didn’t have this tremendous sense of guilt because I hadn’t hurt anyone. Had I physically harmed someone or caused harm to a human being, I think it would have been an entirely different experience.
"When it was over I moved to San Francisco to be near my parents. I made a very conscious decision not to work. No one in my family ever got angry with me. Concerned, yes, but not concerned with a drug problem or anything. Because after that night I pretty much didn’t ever… If you are ever arrested, you can’t ever do that again.’

The Humane Society of the United States claims most pure bred dogs for sale in pet stores have been farmed in cruel conditions.
The society insist the ‘Toxic’ singer shouldn’t have seemingly condoned the industry by purchasing her new Yorkshire Terrier London in this way.
Stephanie Shain, the society’s director of outreach for companion animals, said: ‘Ms. Spears is setting a damaging example to the public.
"Most dogs sold in pet stores come from puppy mills — factory-like facilities, churning out purebred and ‘designer’ puppies in large numbers.
"Every time someone purchases a dog from a pet store, they risk perpetuating the horrendous business of puppy mills." Shain has invited Britney to speak with her about the inhumane trade.
She added: "If she’d be willing to learn about the issues and educate other people, we’d be delighted to have her. I think there are a lot of people like her out there who love animals and don’t realise their actions are hurting them.
"If Britney sends us a copy of her dog’s papers, we’d be happy to look into the situation for her." The society are also concerned about how quickly Britney picked London and handed over the $3,000 for her new pet.
Shain said: ‘Choosing a dog is a major lifestyle decision that should not be taken lightly. We suggest that people take time to choose a member of their family, and to be sure they are working with a reputable breeder." Britney spent 30 minutes in the pet store before buying London to replace her former dogs, Bit-Bit, Lacy and Lucky, in Los Angeles on Friday (13.07.07).
The 25-year-old singer took her new pet pooch out clubbing with her to a Hollywood nightspot at the weekend.
A friend said: ‘She took London out with her because she didn’t want to leave him alone.’

The ‘Sahara’ star had been enjoying a bachelor lifestyle and roughing it in his Airstream trailer on a Malibu beach while filming his latest movie ‘Surfer Dude’.
Matthew is now dating Brazilian model Camilla Alves who was not prepared to slum it in his mobile home and insisted they relocate to Malibu’s Polaroid Beach House.
A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Matthew was in the bar with some friends. He told them he was going to ditch the trailer because Camilla was unimpressed with it.
"He is going to start house hunting." The 37-year-old actor has been single since he split from Penelope Cruz last year.
Last August, he allegedly asked Jennifer Aniston on a date but was turned down as she was in a relationship with Vince Vaughn at the time.

Camilla, who celebrates her 60th birthday today (17.07.07), is said to have told friends she wants to be known as the princess consort when her husband Prince Charles becomes king.
A source told Britain’s Evening Standard newspaper: ‘There has been a lot of talk about ‘Queen Camilla’ but it is not something that exercises the minds of either of their Royal Highnesses. ‘The Duchess is technically the Princess of Wales but chose to use another of her rightful titles, the Duchess of Cornwall. ‘With this in mind, no matter what the precedent is, the Duchess fully intends to be known as the princess consort when the time comes. She is fully supported by the Prince in this. ‘There is no secret plan to install her as queen, far from it. She simply wants to support her husband both publicly and privately.’ Current British law dictates wives must take the rank of their husbands and there is no precedent for a king whose wife doesn’t want the title of queen.
Any change to the law may have to be approved by the 17 Commonwealth countries.
The Department of Constitutional Affairs insists Camilla will become queen unless Parliament decides to strip her of the title.
A poll published today showed only 28 per cent of those questioned want Camilla to become queen. However, when Camilla married Charles in 2005, just seven per cent were in favour of her having the title.

RDF Media’s chief executive David Frank admitted his company was “guilty of a serious error of judgement” and condemned colleagues for editing the footage out of sequence.
In an email to the British Broadcasting Corporation, Frank said: ‘Clearly RDF has been guilty of a serious error of judgment and I deeply regret the embarrassment this has led to for both the BBC and the queen and wanted to apologise to you unreservedly.
‘I condemn what was done by RDF employees in manipulating the chronology of any footage regardless of its objective, use or context. ‘I am taking steps to ensure nothing of this sort happens again.’ BBC director general Mark Thompson will present a report on the incident to the BBC Trust tomorrow (18.07.07).
Last week, the BBC was forced to apologise after showing a trailer for documentary ‘A Year With The Queen’ that implied the queen had left the portrait sitting after photographer Annie Leibovitz asked her to remove her crown.
The trailer cut to a clip of the queen walking through Buckingham Palace saying to her lady-in-waiting: ‘I’m not changing anything. I’ve had enough dressing like this, thank you very much,’ which implied she had stormed out.
But this had actually happened on the way to the shoot.
The BBC admitted the trailer – shown to journalists at the press launch of the BBC’s autumn schedule – was never intended for the public and had been shown by mistake.
The documentary shows the queen and other members of the royal family performing their royal duties. It also includes the queen’s 80th birthday celebrations, the State Opening of Parliament, and the queen and his husband Prince Phillip’s recent US tour.

The audience at the concert, held in the city of Ulaanbaatar celebrating a wide variety of Mongolian music, were treated to a special performance by the prince, who plays the viola.
During the interval Crown Prince Naruhito disappeared from his seat in the auditorium, only to re-emerge on stage with the national symphonic orchestra and the national horse fiddle orchestra.
The prince performed Camille Saint-Saëns’ ‘The Swan’ in an arrangement for viola and orchestra and received a long standing ovation from the audience the moment it ended.
The concert was hosted by the famous composer N. Jantsannorov and several of his own compositions were also played during the show.
Other performances included the traditional Mongolian throat singing called ‘khuumii’. Crown Prince Naruhito’s is currently on an official visit to Mongolia as part of the celebration of 35 years of diplomatic ties between the country and Japan.
The eight day royal tour ended today (17.07.07) and the prince is returning home.

Last week the budget revealed there was no money set aside for the royals’ annual allowance and that the king’s palace was to be nationalised.
However, the finance minister has now revealed the money for the royal family will be financed through the prime minister’s office.
Although the king has had his annual allowance scrapped, the family will receive more than $300,000 a year.
Despite this being a tenth of what they received last year, many of the public are angry as they want the monarchy abolished.
The king has seen his popularity drop in recent years and he is no longer the head of state or head of the army.
Due to massive street protests last year, the king was forced to withdraw from politics.
He now pays taxes on his considerable private wealth and the government says it will nationalise his parks and palaces. Protestors want him to abdicate or leave the country before the elections on November 22.

Camilla, the wife of Britain’s Prince Charles, will be joined by more than 100 friends and family for the birthday bash at their Gloucestershire home on Saturday (21.07.07).
Charles is hosting the party, and it is believed Camilla – who reaches the landmark today (17.07.07) - has persuaded him to scale down the size of the celebrations, preferring a relatively understated affair after struggling to recover from a hysterectomy operation in March.
A royal source said: “Charles had wanted to invite 200 people but Camilla wanted closer to the 100 mark. They’ve compromised on a list of about 150 and of that it looks like 115 or so will go.
“She’s had a tough few months. She took longer than expected to recover from her hysterectomy and with her son Tom’s wife Sara heavily pregnant, she’s about to become a grandmother for the first time. It’s all wonderful but tumultuous when you add everything else in.’ Guests will include Prince William, but Prince Harry is unable to attend due to Army commitments.
Instead of a gift list, Camilla has asked party guests to make donations to The National Osteoporosis Society, which helps people with the brittle bone disease.
Camilla was due to spend today visiting Wiltshire with Charles, where she will receive a birthday card made by local school children.

The singer’s wife, Tana, gave birth to a baby boy on Saturday (14.07.07).
Both mother and baby, whose name has not yet been released, are doing well and Brandon is said to be "thrilled".
The couple married in an intimate ceremony in 2005 on a Honolulu beach.
Last year, Brandon, 26, revealed he and Tana, also 26, were ready to start a family.
He admitted babies were top of their agenda and they found it hard to discuss anything else.
He said: ‘Tana and I talk about starting a family all the time.

The musician insists he and his publishing company EMI own the copyright to six disputed tracks, some of which appear on his worldwide hit debut album ‘Back To Bedlam’.
Producer Lukas Burton claims he helped Blunt to write the songs in question - ‘Goodbye My Lover’, ‘No Bravery’, ‘Cry’, ‘I Don’t Believe’, ‘I Really Want You’ and ‘Don’t Lose ‘Yourself’ - and is entitled to some of the royalties.
A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "Now that James is a multi-millionaire star it seems a string of people are expecting a slice of the cake. This dispute with Lukas has been rumbling for a while – and James has decided to take action." All royalty payments were suspended after Burton claimed Blunt cut ties with him.
Blunt insists he has vital details about where the tracks were written which prove Burton wasn’t involved.
He says he penned ‘No Bravery’ while he was serving with the British Army in Kosovo in August 1999, while ‘Goodbye My Lover’ was composed at his London flat in September 2000 and ‘Don’t Lose Yourself’ at his Bristol home in 1994.

Officers fined the troubled Babyshambles singer £100 after he threw rubbish from a taxi window in London’s Regent’s Park.
Police stopped the blue minicab to question Pete and ask him for proof of identity at around 12.20pm.
A source said: "He looked pretty sheepish about getting into trouble for something so stupid.
"The policeman gave him a stern telling-off, then issued him with a fine." On Sunday night (15.07.07), Pete checked into North Yorkshire’s Detox 5 clinic, in Harrogate, wearing two trilby hats.
Just minutes later, Pete’s luggage was packed into a car and he was driven away.
Pete’s visit to the clinic is believed to be the start of the five-day detox programme a judge ordered him to attend earlier this month.
He was told to enter rehab or face a jail sentence after being found guilty of possession of crack cocaine, popular club drug ketamine, heroin and cannabis in May.
Pete – who was recently dumped by fiancée Kate Moss – also confessed to driving without a licence and failing to appear in court.
District Judge Davinder Lachhar deferred sentencing until August 7 so his rehab stay can be reviewed.
The 28-year-old musician’s lawyer Sean Curran revealed Pete’s £3,000 detox programme would begin on Monday (23.07.07), adding: "Pete has been in Harrogate over the weekend but I believe he is now back in London." Pete’s bandmate Mick Whitnall was also driven to the Harrogate clinic yesterday.
