Spain’s Prince Felipe and Princess Letizia looked on proudly as their baby daughter was baptised yesterday (15.07.07).

The royal couple’s 10-week-old daughter, Sofía de Todos los Santos, was christened in the gardens of Zarzuela Palace, situated in the mountains of El Pardo, just north of Madrid.
Little Sofia - Felipe and Letizia’s second child - was baptised with water from the river Jordan.
More than 100 guests attended the ceremony, including Spain’s Deputy Prime Minister María Teresa Fernández de la Vega and Justice Minister Mariano Fernández Bermejo.
The royal baby’s maternal grandmother, Paloma Rocasolano, and Bulgaria’s Prince Konstantin were chosen as godparents, with the ceremony performed by the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela.
Staff from Madrid’s Rúber International Clinic, who attended the princess’s birth on April 29, were also present The little princess was dressed traditionally in the same christening robe worn by generations of Spanish royals, including her grandfather, King Juan Carlos.
She was baptised in a 12th century font from Madrid’s Santo Domingo de Guzmán Church, which is only used for royal christenings and previously held the water for the baptism of her father Prince Felipe and her older sister, 21-month-old Leonor.
