Catherine Zeta-Jones vowed to leave Michael Douglas when they were dating if he didn’t want children with her.
The Welsh actress revealed her 62-year-old husband wooed her with the chat-up line, ‘I want to father you children’, but made sure he was sincere before making a commitment to him.
She told Parade magazine: ‘A few months after we started dating and I was already in love with him. But there was one thing I had to be sure of. I turned to him and said, ‘Do you really want children?’ And I thought, for one minute, he was going to say, ‘I already have a son, Cameron,’ and I would have then had to say goodbye. ‘I remember saying defiantly, ‘I cannot live without having children.’ And he went, ‘Me too.’ ‘ Michael has a 28-year-old son, Cameron, from his first marriage to Diandra Luker.
Catherine and Michael - who married in 2000 - now have two children, Dylan, six, and four-year-old Carys.
The 37-year-old actress admits life couldn’t be any better.
Catherine said: ‘I’m crazy in love with my husband. I love my children and adore just watching them grow and change.’ The Oscar-winning star also revealed she constantly worries about her kids.
She said: ‘I’m Dame Doom. Dylan and Carys make fun of me because I worry when they’re climbing or jumping outside. I always think something could happen to them.’
