PHARRELL PROMOTES PEACE AT DIANA CONCERT
Rapper/producer PHARRELL WILLIAMS called for the British to "stand up for peace" during his Concert For Diana performance on Sunday (01Jul07) after witnessing the chaos following the weekend’s (29-30Jun07) bomb threats and blasts.
Williams, the first foreign act to take to the stage at the Wembley Stadium memorial concert, took a moment at the beginning of his set with N.E.R.D to comment on the terrorist activity, that made headlines around the world.
He told the 63,000 fans in the stadium, "Despite of all the crazy things that’s been happening over the past couple of days, I’d like to see Great Britain stand up for peace." Williams urged everyone in the stadium, including Princes William and Harry to get out of their chairs and scream ‘Peace.’ He then launched into a rendition of his collaboration with Snoop Dogg, Drop It Like It’s Hot.
