The London recording studios used by late legendary DJ JOHN PEEL are set to close their doors next year (08).
The BBC are planning to close the Maida Vale studios in west London citing they are not suitable for the "21st-century digital age".
Grunge legends Nirvana and rockers The Smiths also used the recording studio before it was occupied by Peel for his radio broadcasts before his death in 2004.
Network bosses are expected sell the hallowed land to a property developer, although a final decision on the studio’s fate won’t be made until next year.
The BBC are yet to announce whether the studio will be replaced.

Rapper CHUBB ROCK will dedicate his upcoming album to his late wife who died last year (06) after battling cancer.
The New York-based rap star - real name Richard Simpson - says new album The Grown and Sexy Theory fulfills a promise he made to his wife before she passed away - and he doesn’t care if it is a commercial success.
He tells Allhiphop.com, "It was actually made because of a promise I made to my wife.
"She passed last year from cancer. It makes you not take life for granted.
She was younger than me, in perfect health. She didn’t like how music was going. She was a hip-hop fan to the fullest. But she’d turn on he radio and be like ‘What’s this’. So I’m doing this for her. I don’t care if this record sells."

KINGS OF LEON frontman CALEB FOLLOWILL has ditched cocaine - but he still relies on other drugs to get through his live performances.
The singer stopped taking cocaine after seeing a photograph of himself looking painfully pale and gaunt. But the star admits he relies on the amphetamine-based narcotic Anderall to get him through live concerts.
He says, "We just looked up one day, deathly pale, and said, ‘This isn’t good for us.’ We’d wear so much make-up to cover it up, I’d wear lipstick…
"Now I see a picture and go, ‘What the f***! That was me?’ We’d toured for years, then we went home and realised that what we wanted was a good night’s sleep - you don’t have to do cocaine.
"Adderall helps me remember the lyrics. I don’t take too much - just enough to get by."

Singer MICHAEL BUBLE has played down rumours he is set to marry his actress girlfriend EMILY BLUNT.
Buble says he and The Devil Wears Prada star laughed at recent news reports suggesting the pair were engaged. He says, "We had a good laugh about that one." The Call Me Irresponsible hitmaker also claims he hates "gushing" celebrities who constantly showcase their relationships - and won’t be calling Blunt pet names in the press.

Klok - who is rumoured to be dating Anderson - presented the actress with a rare edition of a Houdini book.

THE BLACK EYED PEAS star FERGIE snubbed pal JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE to appear at Sunday’s (01Jul07) Concert For Diana.
The singer had been due to appear with the SexyBack star at a gig in Dublin, Ireland on Sunday as part of his world tour, but pulled out to appear at the tribute concert at London’s Wembley Stadium - with rapper 50 Cent called in as her last-minute replacement.
And the star - real name Stacey Ferguson - admits she’s indebted to the In Da Club hitmaker.
She says, "I guess I owe 50 a favour." Ferguson paid tribute to the late princess and her sons, Princes William and Harry, who organised the all-day extravaganza, saying, "They seem like pretty normal guys who put on the manners when they’re supposed to."

Pop superstar JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE has disappointed fans by pulling out of an intimate concert on the Irish leg of his world tour, blaming "technical difficulties" for the cancellation.
The SexyBack hitmaker planned to perform two shows in one night in Dublin, Ireland, but was forced to axe one of the gigs on Saturday (30Jun07), reports Irish music magazine Hot Press.
Timberlake apologised to fans who had already paid for tickets to the intimate performance at nightclub Vicar Street, and offered them a chance to attend a show in the city’s RDS arena on Sunday (01Jul07) as his personal guests.
He says, "I love being in Ireland - the audiences are always something else and I’m so disappointed we can’t make the Club Show happen this time. I hope to make it up to you guys next time." Fans had spent €80 ($109; £54) on tickets to the sold-out gig, some of which reached up to €250 ($341; £170) on auction site eBay.

VICTORIA BECKHAM has angered a British fashion designer by wearing one of his designs in public without permission.
Christopher Kane admits Beckham asked to borrow one of the items from his new collection, but he refused because he did not think her figure was right for his designs.
But the former Spice Girl found a way around the problem - by buying the dress regardless of the designer’s objections.
Kane says, "I couldn’t do anything about it, to be honest. She wanted to borrow something, but I said no, so she went out and bought it.

LATEST: Germany’s Finance Ministry has banned TOM CRUISE from filming his forthcoming movie at the Bendlerblock memorial site, despite pleas from the studio the location is "crucial" to the film.
Cruise is playing World War II hero Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg - who lead an unsuccessful plot to assassinate Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler - in new film Valkyrie.
Despite the Defence Ministry’s claims last month (Jun07) they would not permit Cruise to film at any of the country’s military sites, the Finance Ministry - who oversee the properties in question - said the star was welcome to film in Germany - the only exception being Bendlerblock.
Bendlerblock is a military building, which includes a memorial to Von Stauffenberg, who was executed at the site in July 1944.
The Defence Ministry announced they wouldn’t allow Cruise to film Valkyrie on any of its sites, because they objected to his controversial Scientology religion, which is regarded as a money-making cult by German authorities - but the Finance Departmente denies their decision is related to Cruise’s Scientologist beliefs.
Spokesman Stefan Olbermann says, "They will not be permitted to film at the Bendlerblock but this has nothing to do with (Scientology).
"We welcome the fact that such a film is being made. We don’t think it would be appropriate to film there." Von Stauffenberg’s eldest son Berthold von Stauffenberg has publicly denounced the casting of Cruise, saying, "He should keep his hands off my father."

Bollywood star ARPITA MUKHERJEE has slammed TV talent shows and branded viewers "fools" for being unable to recognise talent.
The singer, who made it to the final four contestants on Indian reality series Fame Gurukul, insists most winners of fame-finding shows are poor singers and don’t accurately portray the contestant’s real abilities.
She says, "Audience vote is an ambiguous system as most of the competitors who are not talented win music talent hunt reality shows. Are viewers, who are voting, fools that they cannot differentiate between the talented and untalented singers? "Channels claim that they receive a huge number of votes but nobody knows whether they really pour in or they quote the figures according to their convenience as it is not a transparent procedure. Reality shows create unnecessary hype. They project a completely wrong image of a person. He and she may be completely opposite of what is shown on screen."

Actress BEAU GARRETT was delighted when an enterprising fan donated his copy of the latest HARRY POTTER book to her - and left his phone number on the opening page.
The Blue Crush star was taken aback when the admirer relinquished his copy of Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince in summer 2005, and was even more shocked when the tome revealed his ulterior motive.
She says, "I was at an airport when one of the Harry Potter books was sold out everywhere, and this guy saw me staring at his copy.
"He handed it to me and walked away. Inside he’d written this little note and his phone number. It was the most incredible gesture."

Filmmaker BAZ LUHRMANN hopes his new movie Australia will match the LORD OF THE RINGS’ success in boosting tourism for the country.
The Oscar-winning director hopes his film - starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman - will have a similar impact on Australia’s tourism industry as the Lord Of The Rings had on New Zealand - the scene of the trilogy’s spectacular setting.

Actress WHOOPI GOLDBERG was so determined to get her hands on the new Apple iPhone, she queued outside with thousands of gadget fans at Friday’s (29Jun07) unveiling.
The Ghost actress was spotted buying the iPhone at the Apple store in Soho, New York after a host of celebrities including Mandy Moore and Nick Cannon struggled to get their hands on the sought-after gadget before its official release.

LATEST: DON IMUS’ former colleagues have hinted the disgraced radio host could be soon returning to his old station.
Imus was axed from CBS Radio earlier this year (Apr07) after he called the mostly-black Rutgers University Women’s Basketball Team "nappy-headed hos" on his radio show Imus In The Morning.
But radio personality Mike Francesa has given the strongest hint yet his pal could be back on the airwaves, reports The New York Post.
Francesa said last Friday (29Jun07), "When we return to our regular schedule this September, I hope the team will once again be complete." And long term Imus co-host Charles McCord mentioned he had "looked into the rear view mirror . . . and some objects were closer than they appear." Imus is currently involved in a legal battle with the radio station to recoup a large portion of his $40 million (£20 million) contract.

British royals SOPHIE, COUNTESS OF WESSEX and PRINCE EDWARD are expecting their second child.
The couple already have one daughter, three-year-old Lady Louise Windsor, who was born four weeks premature in 2003.
A Palace spokesperson says, "The Earl and the Countess are both thrilled and excited. The Countess will continue with engagements as normal and take doctors’ advice." Sophie, 42, married Prince Edward, 43, in June 1999.

LATEST: South Korean pop star RAIN’s U.S. tour has been hit by more problems he was forced to cancel his Los Angeles gig on Saturday (30Jun07).
Last month (Jun07), Rain postponed his gigs after he was served a lawsuit by an American band called Rain.
After proceeding with the tour, Rain cancelled Saturday’s concert at the Staples Center "due to issues related to the show’s production".
Rain’s show involves 28 trucks full of stage equipment and a 96-person entourage.

King reveals he lost all respect for the metal band’s after watching their 2004 documentary Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster, which follows the rockers as they attend group therapy while making their St. Anger album.
