Britain’s Prince William and Kate Middleton kept everyone guessing about their romance at the Concert for Diana yesterday (01.07.07).
Kate sat three rows behind William in the Royal Box at London’s Wembley Stadium in the pair’s first public appearance since splitting in April.
It had been rumoured William, 25, would announced he had rekindled the romance at his mother’s tribute concert, but the pair kept their distance.
William danced with his brother Harry and his best friend Thomas van Straubenzee, while Kate, also 25, sat with William’s cousin Zara Phillips.
At one point, Kate reportedly stared at William as she joined Take That in singing ‘I just want you back for good’.
A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: ‘Kate and William are still working things through and insist they are not back together. But the cat is out of the bag.’ Kate reportedly visited William at Clarence House on Saturday (30.06.07), but the pair were keen to keep the meeting a secret.
A friend of Kate’s said: ‘It was clear Kate and William had put together a plan so that the meeting could be kept secret. It was carefully orchestrated.’ Meanwhile, it has been suggested William and Kate’s split lasted just four days, but they decided to keep their reunion a secret.
A source told Britain’s News of the World newspaper: ‘William and Kate realised it was the perfect opportunity to try to get rid of some of the pressure they were facing. Rumours about them getting engaged were getting stronger and they couldn’t cope with it. ‘There is a group of about eight people that they trust. They helped keep it a secret and plan their romance away from the public eye.’
