PRINCESS DIANA’s best friend, ROSA MONCKTON, has praised the tragic royal’s sons for organising a concert to honour their mum.
Monckton was among the special guests invited to the Concert For Diana at London’s Wembley Stadium (01Jul07), where acts like Elton John, Duran Duran and Joss Stone were slated to honour the late princess.
Speaking before the concert got underway, Monckton was sure the event would be a bitter sweet one for fans of her late pal.
She said, "There will be a sudden realisation that she wasn’t there anymore (sic).

British royal PRINCE HARRY remembered his embattled pals fighting in Iraq as the London concert dedicated to the memory of his mother got underway on a sombre note on Sunday (01Jul07).
Harry joined brother Prince William onstage at Wembley Stadium in front of an estimated crowd of 70,000 after Elton John kicked off the Concert For Diana with a stirring rendition of Your Song.
The two princes nervously read from handheld cue cards as they thanked the masses for helping them celebrate what would have been their later mother Princess Diana’s 46th birthday.
Harry, a then made a point of saluting friends serving in the Middle East.
He said, "I would also like to take this opportunity to say hi to all the guys in A Squadron of the Household Cavalry, who are serving out in Iraq at the moment.
"I wish I was there with you. I’m sorry I can’t be. But, to all of those on operations at the moment, we’d both like to say `Stay safe.’" Security issues forced Harry to abandon plans to join the Household Cavalry regiment in Iraq.
The two princes then introduced their late mother’s favourite band, Duran Duran, who dedicated hits Wild Boys to the young royals and Rio to the memory of their mother, who died in a Paris, France car crash in 1997.
As well as Elton John and Duran Duran, Tom Jones, Kanye West, Joss Stone and Lily Allen are slated to perform at the tribute concert.

The daughter of British musician ROD STEWART has been romantically linked to notorious bad boy rocker TOMMY LEE.
Socialite Kimberley was photographed leaving a Los Angeles nightclub this week (ends29Jun07) with Pamela Anderson’s ex, 44-year old Lee, who is famed for substance abuse and shooting a homemade sex film with his ex-wife.
Lee - who was also once married to blonde Heather Locklear, went to jail in 1998 for physically abusing Anderson.

LATEST: LINDSAY LOHAN’s lawyer have angrily blasted the police for "selling stories", after the actress’ toxicology tests following her drink driving arrest were leaked online.
A report published on entertainment site TMZ.com shows Lohan had cocaine and "nearly twice the legal limit" of alcohol in her blood when she crashed her Mercedes in Beverly Hills, California on 26 May (07).
Following her arrest, Lohan checked into Promises rehabilitation centre in Malibu, California, where she currently is still seeking treatment.
After police sources told TMZ.com the alleged results of the toxicology tests, the Mean Girls star’s attorney issued an angry comment.
Lawyer Blair Berk tells the New York Daily News, "This is an ongoing investigation. It is shameful that law enforcement would be selling stories, let alone unverified ones." Jane Robison, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District Attorney, says, "Our office has not received the final toxicology reports - only preliminary results - and the police have not formally filed a case yet."

British model ELIZABETH HURLEY has come under fire for allegedly dressing her son as a female and posting it on her website to promote a new children’s beachwear line.
Pictures of five-year-old Damian, whose father is American tycoon Steve Bing, dressed in a pink bikini and white oversized sunglasses have reportedly been removed from Hurley’s website.
A source close to the 43-year-old star tells British newspaper News Of The World, "It’s an outrage Liz made her son do this. He’s not old enough to make that sort of decision."

The 17-year-old, who just signed a whopping $50 million (£25 million) contract to star in the next two Harry Potter films, admits he’s an avid fan of the sport, but has no clue what inspired the creepy dreams.

Hollywood actress CAMERON DIAZ has been named as the ‘other woman’ in divorce papers served to celebrity magician CRISS ANGEL by his ’secret’ wife.
The split comes just a month after Angel, 39, denied a relationship with Diaz, 34, in spite of the pair being spotted out on the town in Las Vegas.
A legal rep for estranged wife Joanne Sarantakos, who is said to have hired a private investigator to track Angel’s activities, says, "We’re naming Cameron Diaz as his lover. We will subpoena her as soon as she comes back to New York." It is also claimed that Sarantakos, 37, was made to keep her five-year marriage to the magic man a secret in order to boost his appeal to female fans.
Angel, who shot to fame on the Broadway sensation Mindfreak, has just signed a $200 million (£100 million) casino show contract in Las Vegas.
A spokesperson for Diaz responded saying, "Cameron and Criss met in May of this year. They went on four dates over a month ago, and do not have any romantic relationship currently."

BRITNEY SPEARS’ estranged husband KEVIN FEDERLINE is reportedly refusing to sign their divorce papers while the troubled singer continues to party.
Spears embarked on several months of hard partying following her November (06) split from the aspiring rapper, during which she was photographed without underwear, hit a photographer’s car with an umbrella and shaved her head.
After checking into rehab in February (07) and leaving the following month (Mar07), Spears has returned to the Hollywood party scene, much to the chagrin of her family and estranged spouse.
Sources tell U.S. entertainment network E! that Federline is refusing to sign the couple’s divorce papers because he is concerned about the well-being of their two young sons, Sean Preston, 21 months; and Jayden James, 10 months.
A source says, "It’s not about the money. It’s about her partying. It’s her partying ways that is forcing Kevin to put his foot down." Although the divorce is yet to be settled, the couple reached a "global divorce settlement on all issues of their marriage" in March (07).
The agreement meant the two boys would spend most of the week with Spears, but the couple would share joint legal and physical custody of the tots.
However, Spears’ behaviour since coming out of rehab has reportedly concerned Federline so much, he is seeking a revision of the document.

Chinese director EDWARD YANG died on Friday (29Jul07) following a battle with colon cancer. He was 59.
The Yi Yi (A One And A Two) filmmaker died at his home in Beverly Hills, California, of complications from the deadly disease, which he had been fighting for seven years.
After starting a career as a computer engineer, Yang started his film career in the early 1980s after being inspired by Werner Herzog’s Aguirre, The Wrath Of God (72).
His filmography includes A Brighter Summer Day, Mahjong, and The Wind.
He is survived by his widow, pianist Kaili Peng and their son.

LATEST: Irish music mogul LOUIS WALSH is backtracking on comments he made about TV colleague SIMON COWELL before he was rehired as a judge on the British talent show The X Factor.
The 54 year-old reportedly made scathing remarks about fellow judge Cowell, who he believed was to blame for his firing, in an interview for the BBC programme You Can’t Fire Me I’m Famous - which sees the firing of celebrities broken down and carefully analysed.
Walsh, who was fired from the X-Factor in March (07), was reinstated to the judging panel with Cowell and Sharon Osbourne last month (Jun07).
Producers hope to air the interview with updated comments from those involved, but Walsh’s people have made desperate attempts to block it.
A spokesperson for Walsh says, "Louis gave us a very emotional interview after he was sacked. We’ve had to make frantic calls to arrange emergency filming with the show’s host Piers Morgan."

The rocker was due to perform a duet with Joss Stone at the tribute gig in memory of late British royal Diana, Princess Of Wales at London’s Wembley Stadium - but has cancelled the performance to work on his astronomy PhD thesis - and because he was unhappy with the organisers.
He says, "I just could not get my head around the way they have arranged it.
I didn’t want to risk embarrassing them - or myself! It was too short notice for such major changes.
"I have chatted to Joss and we are going to create something new together soon." Stone adds, "I only called him up a few days ago going, ‘Why don’t you play some chords during my duet.’. I’m always trying to organise things last minute.
But he needed more time to prepare, which I totally understand."

LATEST: American soprano BEVERLY SILLS is critically ill with cancer, her manager has confirmed.
Reports emerged on Thursday (28Jun07), the 78-year-old opera star was gravely ill at a New York City hospital.
Sills’ manager Edger Vincent says, "It’s grave. This whole matter of this discovery of cancer has been just about four weeks now. Up until that she had no idea." Sills was initially admitted to hospital when she broke a rib during a fall at home.
The New York City-born singer, resigned her post as chairwoman of the city’s Metropolitan Opera two years ago (05), citing health and family reasons.
Sills was one of America’s best-known opera stars in the 1960s and 1970s, before going on to manage the New York City Opera and the Metropolitan Opera.

Disgraced British glam rocker GARY GLITTER could walk out of a Vietnam prison in a matter of months - over a year earlier than his sentence calls for.
Glitter - born PAUL FRANCIS GADD - was convicted of committing obscene acts with children in Vietnam in March 2006, but hopes the Asian nation’s September’s National Day could give him a chance of early freedom.
Government amnesty often occurs on major national holidays in Vietnam and lawyers for the shamed star are confident he will benefit for good behaviour.
The 62-year-old was jailed until November 2008 but a ruling earlier this year (Feb07) will reportedly see the star released three months early, in August 2008.

A 28-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to stalking LINKIN PARK frontman CHESTER BENNINGTON.
Former laboratory worker Devon Townsend admitted she had used government computers at her former workplace Sandia National Laboratories’ technology and manufacturing group to access the rocker’s email account from January to November 2006.
Townsend also hacked into a cellphone firm’s website to obtain Bennington’s phone number.
In a plea agreement filed in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Friday (29Jun07), Townshend pleaded guilty to charges including stalking and unlawful access to stored communications.
In the agreement, Townsend said, "On at least one occasion, knowing that Chester Bennington was in Arizona, I travelled to Arizona solely for the purpose of trying to see him. While I was there, I monitored Chester Bennington’s voicemails as a means of trying to locate where he might be eating dinner or lunch." She faces a potential of five years behind bars and $250,000 (£125,000) in fines.
Police allege Townshend also hacked into the email of Bennington’s wife Talinda and threatened the former model over the phone.
