WELLER AWARDED TOP PRIZE AT SILVER CLEF AWARDS
PAUL WELLER took home the prestigious Silver Clef lifetime achievement award at the annual O2 Silver Clef Luncheon this week at London’s Park Lane Hilton.
The British songwriter/guitarist was honoured at Friday’s (29Jun07) ceremony for his 30-year career, during which he formed The Jam and The Style Council before embarking on a successful solo career.
Roxy Music’s Bryan Ferry scooped a gong for Ambassador of Rock, while Snow Patrol took home the British Group award and New Shoes singer Paolo Nutini won the Best New Music award.
Other winners include John Legend for Best International Artist, The Feeling for Record Of The Year - and opera star Andrea Bocelli won the classical prize The Clef Luncheon raises money for the Nordoff-Robins Music Therapy charity, a group that uses music to improve the lives of impaired children and adults.
