MARSHALL TUCKER BAND FOUNDER DEAD AT 60
Country rocker GEORGE McCORKLE has lost his battle with cancer just a month after he was diagnosed with the disease. He was 60.
The guitarist, who died on Friday (29Jun07), co-founded the Marshall Tucker Band in 1971 and wrote the band’s Southern rock anthem Fire On The Mountain.
He enjoyed cult solo success in the late 1990s thanks to a well-received solo album, American Street. He then went on to perform as a member of the Renegades of Southern Rock.
