Toothpaste conceals cavity
US prison inmates used pancake batter and toothpaste to cover a hole they had made in a cell wall.
A female inmate at Missouri’s Scott City Jail slid through the cavity - dug with a tool made from a nail, a wire from a light fixture and a toothbrush - to spend the night with a male inmate in the next cell.
During the day they would use the concoction - which looked just like mortar - to conceal the opening.
Steel plates are now being added to the jail’s interior walls. The prisoners are being housed in a county jail in the meantime.
Police Chief Don Cobb said: "Unless they can smuggle in an arc welder, they aren’t getting through that."
