The Netherlands’ Princess Alexia celebrated her second birthday yesterday (26.07.06) Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima held celebrations for their daughter at home, while also taking time out for the royal family’s bi-annual photo session.
By giving everyone the chance to take pictures the family hopes it will be able to enjoy a quiet holiday in mid-July without being bothered by paprazzi.
Princess Máxima, 36, has now returned to work after maternity leave following the birth of third daughter Ariane in April. She will be leaving this week for Kenya as part of her work for the UN promoting microcredit for small businesses in developing countries.
Máxima and Alexander both admit they find it hard spending a lot of time away from their daughters Alexia, Ariane and Catharina-Amalia, three.
Both work hard in fighting poverty and sharing their expertise on water management. Máxima will be making trips to Bhutan, Pakistan and two trips to India in the autumn.
