KINGSLEY UPSET HE CAN’T REMEMBER MOVIE SKILLS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:14 pm

SIR BEN KINGSLEY wishes he could retain the information he gathers for film roles because he regrets forgetting how to play chess and certain spiritual exercises he learned to play Gandhi.
The British actor goes to great lengths to master his roles - he perfected spinning for Gandhi and became a great chess player for his film Searching For Bobby Fisher.
But he admits he can’t remember much of what he learned while he was preparing for those films.
He says, "I think it’s the brain taking care of itself and not holding too much information it won’t use.
"But I learn these skills very thoroughly for movies. I actually learned to spin as Gandhi and that was really me spinning in the film.
"The, as soon as you’re out of that character, the skill has no relevance to your life and it disappears. It’s odd but it just disappears." And Kingsley fears he’ll lose his skills as a marksman after spending months at the shooting range researching his latest film role as a hit man in You Kill Me.
He adds, "I went to the firing range and practiced. I was with a coach who loved weapons so it was interesting to be with that kind of a man who would describe the number of working parts in the guns. He loved them.
"I got that information from him and at the firing range I was very successful. I was very good actually. I hit a target many times."

CARELL CALLS FOR ARK ANIMAL CRUISES

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:11 pm

Funnyman STEVE CARELL has urged cruise lines to take his new film EVAN ALMIGHTY seriously because he thinks a boat full of performing animals would be a great idea.
In the film, the Little Miss Sunshine star plays a modern-day Noah, approached by God to build an ark to avoid a flood, and he thinks the plot of the movie could inspire cruise companies.
He says, "There was a TV show back in the 70s, called Lansing’s Secret Gym, in which they gave monkeys chewing gum and they’d dress up as spies and they’d have them chew the gum and then they’d dub in dialogue.
"If I really had to build an ark and fill it with animals, I’d pretty much do that for entertainment. It would be like an ark cruise.
"Actually, that’s a great idea. Princess Cruise lines should start building ships that look arks and you’d travel around the world in the ark filled with animals. I think it’s a wonderful idea. I happen to know that alpacas are great ping pong players."

She says, "Desperate Housewives is one of the best things ever to hit television. I’d jump at a television series.
"And, if the lighting cameraman said to me, ‘Joan, I’ve tried everything, I simply can’t make you look good anymore,’ maybe that’s the time I’d consider a little cosmetic help." Collins missed out on the part of playing Teri Hatcher’s mother to fellow actress Lesley Ann Warren in 2005.

BRANDO’S TV FAVOURITE OFFERS ADVICE TO JEWS

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:08 pm

MARLON BRANDO’s favourite self-help guru is returning to TV and this time she’s hoping to net a world audience.
Hanala Stadner’s weekly cable-access broadcasts in Los Angeles in the 1980s and 1990s became a must-see for acting legend Brando, who attempted to woo the TV counsellor, and steal her away from her husband.
Stadner, who adopted the name Susan for the show, ended her health, fitness and advice broadcasts in 1999 to concentrate on a writing career, and superfan Brando was devastated.
But now the Canadian has been persuaded to return to TV - as the host of new advice show Traumedy Central With Hanala on satellite channel Jewish Life.
She says, "The show is being beamed all over the world - to Israel and even to the former Polish ghetto where my parents come from." But Stadner admits she’ll miss the late-night calls from her most famous fan.
She adds, "He told me he used to watch the show and video it and then watch it again in slow motion with the sound turned down because he liked the way my lips moved.
"We became great friends and he even invited me to join him for a holiday on his island in Tahiti but my husband didn’t like that."

NUTINI: ‘I AM NOT GAY’

Scottish singer PAOLO NUTINI was forced to drop an onstage gimmick after mistakenly attracting a gay admirer.
The New Shoes hitmaker - who has been dating girlfriend Teri Brogan since childhood - was advised to lock glances with a female fan in the crowd in a bid to calm his nerves.
But the 20-year-old star actually exchanged loving looks with a male fan and was forced to admit he was not gay.
He says, "When I first started gigging, people were giving me all of these words of advice. They said: ‘Find a girl in the audience and sing to her, let her be the focus of the song.’ "But once when I did it a guy came up to me later and said, ‘I saw you looking at me throughout that song.’ "I said: ‘I’m sorry man, I think there was a girl right beside you,’ "And he went: ‘Aww, it wasn’t me?’ It was the most awkward moment.
"He said: ‘So you’re not gay?’ And I said: ‘No.’ The dude walked away then came up again and shook my hand.
"He sort of went, ‘I’m sorry about that see you later.’ And then he left his number in my hand! Ten out of ten for trying but ever since then I’ve not run the risk again!"

BARAT SNUBS DOHERTY REUNION

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:02 pm

British rocker CARL BARAT has branded speculation he was to reunite with his former THE LIBERTINES bandmates at England’s Glastonbury Festival "hurtful".
It was rumoured Barat and singer Pete Doherty would share the Acoustic Stage at the Somerset festival this weekend (23-24Jun07).
But Barat denies plans for a festival reunion and claims such speculation is unfair on the members of his current band Dirty Pretty Things.
He says, "I don’t mind the rumours, but it’s a bit unfair on the lads (Dirty Pretty Things) sometimes. When people love the songs we do with the boys it detracts a little bit. "I’d love play with Pete one day, someday, but I always say we’re doing our own things at the moment." Meanwhile, Barat hinted he "married" his girlfriend at the festival’s Chapel Of Love And Loathing with The Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess officiating.
Barat says, "It’s true, sort of!. Tim Burgess was a mumbling priest and I think he said ‘Do you take this woman’, but I don’t think it’s legally binding!"
