UNEMPLOYED CHEADLE PROUD TO BE SPOTTED BY FANS
Oscar nominee DON CHEADLE insists he had no shame when fans recognised him collecting his unemployment benefit when he was a struggling actor.
In the late ’80s, the Hotel Rwanda star was known to some eagle-eyed TV fans from bit parts in various shows - and Cheadle was always pleased to be recognised, no matter where he was.
He says, "Between unemployment and acting, I’ve always been able to pay the bills. I had no shame about going to get my unemployment.
"I’d be in line, and they’d go, ‘Hey, weren’t you on Hooperman last week?’ Or, ‘Hey, you were on Hill Street Blues!’ ‘Yeah, that was me. What’s up, dude?’"
