A German man who tried to mug a taxi driver, ended up having his own wallet stolen instead.
The 20-year-old snatched the driver’s purse, and a scuffle broke out between them.
The cabbie managed to take back his wallet, and his attacker’s at the same time.
The driver then locked himself in his car and called the police.
When officers arrived at the scene of the crime they were shocked to find the would-be-mugger waiting patiently next to the taxi.
A police spokesman said: "He wanted his wallet back." The man was questioned and then released with his wallet. He faces charges for attempted robbery.

A US man has been arrested for stealing lap dances.
Joseph T. Parrot allegedly enjoyed eight lap dances at The Lumberyard II in Cedar Rapids, Iowa but then left without paying.
The strip club’s records show the 20-year-old attended the venue and was given eight $25 lap dances by stripper Laurie Stribling.
When he failed to pay, the police were called and he was arrested.
Parrot, from West Burlington, has been charged with two minor misdemeanours of fifth-degree theft and public intoxication.

A US golfer started a bush fire with a bad shot.
The unlucky player was trying to hit his ball out of the grass and back onto the fairway at the Nevada golf course.
But he accidentally struck something with his iron club which caused a spark - resulting in a fire that left part of the course destroyed.
Firefighters were called to control the blaze, and a 12-person crew from the Sierra Front Forest Service battled through the night to ensure flames did not blow towards any buildings.
The fire consumed almost 20 acres.
The fire did not damage any of the holes or practice areas on the course.

A Taiwanese man woke up in the middle of his funeral.
The 87-year-old man had been on life support for a very long time and doctors had removed his oxygen supply, telling his family he would not survive without it.
The family took him home to die in his own house in accordance with local traditions.
Relatives dressed him in burial clothes, placed him in a mourning hall and began reciting Buddhist prayers.
But to everyone’s surprise, the man woke up and began breathing heavily.
His shocked family took him back to hospital.
Funeral parlour employees said it was a miracle.
The man is under medical observation and doctors have no explanation for his recovery.

An Italian airport has been thrown into chaos after it was overrun with rampant wild hares.
Takeoffs, landings and radar systems at Milan’s Linate airport have all been affected by the horny hares.
Officials mounted a daylight raid on the runways to capture the hopping creatures after the epidemic got out of control.
Hundreds of volunteers blew whistles and waved frantically to frighten the furry animals out of their warrens and into waiting nets.
They captured 57 hares and four wild rabbits which were transferred to a wildlife reserve.
Such raids are normally mounted twice a year by night so as not to affect flight schedules. But the problem had become so bad the latest raid took place during daylight to increase chances of success.

Australian customs officials found two snakes and three lizards hidden inside a garden gnome.
The reptiles were uncovered during a routine postal inspection in Sydney on June 10.
An official opened a package containing the gnome, which had been declared a ‘gift’, and immediately saw the slithery creatures had been stuffed inside.
Customs said in a statement: "When the package was opened, the officer spotted several snakes moving about. The package was immediately resealed." The next day, five snakes and five lizards were found squeezed inside pottery figures and other ornaments.
Both packages had been sent from Britain.
It is illegal to bring live reptiles into Australia without a license, and customs are investigating.

A Canadian skinny-dipper had to be rescued by firefighters.
The 23-year-old man had gone for a naked dip with two friends but became separated from the group.
Unable to locate the bare bather, his friends called firefighters who eventually found the man disoriented and shivering in chest-high water on the Skootamata River near Actinolite, Ontario.
After being rescued, he was wrapped in a blanket and taken to hospital for observation.
Police said alcohol, non-prescription drugs and pain medication were all factors in his brief disappearance.

A US restaurant served a two-year-old boy a cup of margarita instead of apple juice.
The tot’s mother, Kim Mayorga, became suspicious when little Julian started making faces and pushing his ‘apple juice’ away.
After giving the ‘juice’ a good sniff, Kim was shocked to smell tequila and triple sec.
Julian was later rushed to hospital after becoming drowsy and starting to vomit.
The blunder occurred because the fast food restaurant stored their apple juice and margarita mix in similar looking containers.
Restaurant chain manager Randy Tei, said the incident was "an honest mistake".

Rats in India have been raiding alcohol supplies and guzzling beer.
The rude rodents have been gnawing their way into beer cans which have been seized from illegal sellers by police in Bihar.
The whiskered whisky lovers have even learnt how to chew holes in bottle tops.
Senior officer Kundan Krishnan said: "We are fed up with these drunk rats and cannot explain why they have suddenly turned to consumption of alcohol." There have also been increased reports of rats attacking people in the nearby area - especially nibbling at their toes.
However, police are unsure whether this is related to their sudden taste for booze.

An Indian man has failed his school exam for the 38th year running.
Farmer Shiv Charan Yadav has been sitting the exam since 1969 - but still hasn’t passed.
The 73-year-old is so determined to get his qualification, which is normally awarded to 15-year-olds, he has vowed not to marry until he does.
In his latest attempt, the ageing student scored just 103 out of a possible 600 points.
Yadav said mathematics was his downfall. However, he is looking forward to trying again next year, and when he passes he hopes to win himself a young bride.
He said: "Once I pass I want to get married to a girl who’s under 30."

A Mexican man has had his wallet returned 43 years after he lost it.
Epigmenio Sanchez, who now lives in California, lost his wallet in 1964, but had no idea where.
Having long given up hope of ever seeing it again, the 70-year-old was stunned when construction workers renovating a cinema said they’d discovered it jammed inside a radiator.
After spotting the weathered leather workers had to saw apart the radiator to reach it.
The wallet still contained a selection of pictures, charge cards and Sanchez ’s birth certificate.
It didn’t contain any money, but Sanchez can’t remember whether there was any in it at the time.
He said: "I remember losing it. I just didn’t remember where."

A German student was so worried about his bad grades he organized a raid on his class in an attempt to steal his report card.
The 16-year-old from Berlin convinced two friends to don masks, storm his classroom and threaten his teacher with a steel bar if she did not hand over the records.
A police spokesman said: "The student probably honestly believed that he could avoid repeating the school year if he made the report cards disappear." While the student sat quietly at the back of the room his accomplices grabbed the report cards and tried to flee.
But they dropped the documents as other students leapt to defend the teacher.
The pair was arrested and told police their friend had organised the raid because he was afraid of failing the year.

British firemen rescued a parrot with vertigo after it was stuck up a tree for four days.
Ollie the parrot escaped through a skylight from his home in Edinburgh and flew about a mile before settling near the top of a 50ft tree.
But the Australian Red Sided Eclectus became paralysed with vertigo and refused to come down.
Owner Mario D’Amico said: "We could hear a bird saying ‘hello’ and we knew we had found Ollie.
"He knew we were there and kept saying ‘hello mummy, hello daddy’ and ‘good boy, bad boy’, but he just wouldn’t come down." Fearing Ollie would starve the fire brigade were called.
However, the tree was too tall for them to climb, so Ollie had to be scared down with a high pressure hose.

A Russian woman fell into a concrete mixer and got stuck up to her neck, after a boozy lunch.
Elena Pavlovna had been walking home after a lunchtime drinking session when she tried to climb over machinery left by workers who were taking a break from resurfacing the road.
But the 43-year-old slipped and fell into a concrete mixer which had been left on.
After being briefly swirled around inside, she was "poured" out onto a pool of asphalt.
As she struggled to get free she slipped further into the road until only her head emerged.
A rescue service spokesman said: "’Despite the fact that only part of her mouth was out in the open she did not shut up and kept on telling us what we should be doing. It was really annoying."

R&B star RIHANNA suffered from such excruciatingly painful headaches when she was growing up, doctors worried she was suffering from a brain tumour.
The 19-year-old singer underwent a number of CAT (computed axial tomography) scans from the age of eight until she was 14, when her parents divorced.
It turned out the cause of Rihanna’s headaches was the stress of her parents’ stormy relationship - her dad Ronald Fenty had an addiction to crack cocaine, which he has now conquered.
She says, "I wouldn’t cry. I wouldn’t get upset. It was just all in here (her head).
"I had to go through a lot of CAT scans. They even thought it was a tumour, because it was that intense.
"It’s not great memories. But it helped to build me and make me stronger."

Actor MORGAN FREEMAN has been confirmed to play former South African President NELSON MANDELA in a new biopic, ending months of speculation.
The 70-year-old American will star in and co-produce The Human Factor, based on the upcoming John Carlin book.
Last year (06), Freeman travelled to South Africa to discuss the possibility of the film with Mandela.
He tells industry newspaper Daily Variety, "I have known Nelson Mandela personally for quite some time, and am continually in awe of his enormous presence in the world.
"The opportunity to portray him in this film is a great honour."
