Jackson is believed to have replaced Bruce Willis as the comic book character in new movie ‘Iron Man’, alongside Robert Downey Jr.
The ‘Pulp Fiction’ actor reportedly shot his first scenes as the cigar-smoking, one-eyed war veteran who flies a big ship called a Helicarrier yesterday (21.06.07).
Nick Fury is yet another creation by Stan Lee - the man behind ‘Fantastic Four’ and ‘Spiderman’ - who first developed the character for Marvel Comics in 1963.
‘Iron Man’, directed by Jon Favreau, also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeff Bridges.
The film follows Tony Stark - played by Downey Jr. - who is forced to create a life support suit after an accident and decides to use the new technology to fight crime.
It is scheduled to be released next spring.

The stunning Hawaii-born actress, who plays sexy villain Mai in the film, was happy to get ‘bloodied and gross’ for her fight scene with Bruce Willis, who plays maverick cop John McClane.
She told BANG Showbiz: ‘I hate it when girls fight and they look too pretty or too smooth.
‘Len Wiseman the director made sure it was so unglamorous and so gritty and dirty and hard-core, and I love that and that’s real for me. ‘If two guys got into a fight in the bar they would use elements. And it’s kind of awesome.
‘I was like, will there be a day on the set when I was wasn’t going to bloodied and dirty and gross? I was so unattractive on set, it was unbelievable.’ Bruce, 52, praised his co-star’s performance, saying the scene was so explosive Maggie’s character should get her own movie.
He said: ‘I smell spin-offs. I hit her with a light-switch, I give her my best left-hook, and she gets up and I’m like, damn this girl is rough. So, she really sold it. Well done, really well done.’

Charles Spencer - who read his eulogy during the public ceremony held at London’s Westminster Abbey - says he felt he had to ’step up’ for Diana.
He said: ‘I’d much rather I hadn’t had to deliver it at all, but when the moment came, I felt I had to step up for Diana.
‘To be honest, I still feel I did the right thing. I know that when I die it will be the only thing I am remembered for.’ In his speech, 43-year-old Charles vowed to look after Diana’s sons William, 25 and Harry, 22.
He said: ‘I pledge that we, your blood family, will do all we can to continue the imaginative way in which you were steering these two exceptional young men so that their souls are not simply immersed by duty and tradition but can sing openly as you planned.’ His speech drew a spontaneous ovation from the crowd watching the ceremony on screens outside the abbey, which spread inside to Diana’s family and friends.
Charles says he has no problem with those who criticise him for the emotive speech.
He said: ‘You can’t speak your mind and then be offended when people don’t agree with what you’re saying.’ Charles also complained that Diana’s forthcoming inquest seemed ‘never-ending’.
The inquest into the death of the princess in a Paris car crash is set to start in October and is expected to last up to six months.

England rugby player Mike Tindall - who has been dating Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter for three and a half years - says his royal girlfriend is the chef in their relationship, because he is so useless in the kitchen.
He told Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper: ‘I’m very lucky to have a nice lady who cooks for me. We have lots of vegetables, salad and protein but, unfortunately, she cooks it.
‘She’s bought lots of cookery books, maybe she’s hinting.’ The sportsman also revealed the 26-year-old equestrian champion often asks him the question all men dread.
He added: ‘She often asks me, ‘Does my bum look big in this? Obviously I tell her she looks great, but sometimes I her to change. Then I run.’ Mike, 28, confessed he was in awe of Zara’s royal relations when they first started dating, and he still is.
He said: ‘I hadn’t had many girlfriends before. I was happy playing rugby and being single. I was then, and still am, a bit in awe of her family. Then you meet them and they are just normal and very family-orientated, just like mine.’ As for rumours of a wedding, the Bath player hinted that the ceremony would be a big event.

The prince was accompanied by socialite Goga Ashkenazi for the second day of the prestigious Berkshire horseracing event.
Britain’s Daily Express newspaper reports Andrew and Goga spent the entire afternoon together in the Royal Box.
The pair reportedly chatted animatedly for hours and shared furtive glances before Andrew introduced her to his mother, Queen Elizabeth, who smiled broadly as they met.
The queen wore a cream hat and coat and coat for her entry into the parade ring, as the royals braved gusting winds and heavy showers.
Prince Andrew, 47, is said to enjoy his bachelor status, but his day out with Goga may have brought back memories of his romance with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, which began during Royal Ascot week in 1985.
The queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips was also present at the event and appeared to be having a great time with her rugby-playing boyfriend Mike Tindall.
Prince Andrew and Sarah were married for 10 years, and have two children together, Princess Beatrice, 18 and Princess Eugenie, 17.
They divorced in 1996 but remain firm friends.

Lord Justice Scott Baker - the new coroner hearing the inquest into the 1997 Paris car crash - has ruled Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) documents may not be disclosed to the jury, sparking yet more accusations of a conspiracy theory.
The papers include statements from Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) and Security Service (MI5) agents who were there that fateful August night.
Lord Baker insisted he would show the witness statements to all interested parties but says they have to sign a contract to ensure they won’t mention the contents before an open court.
He explained: ‘The SIS documents are to be disclosed to the interested persons, subject to his/her existing undertakings as to confidentiality and subject to him/her signing an additional undertaking in the following terms: ‘I undertake that neither I nor my representatives will directly refer to the contents of the SIS documents in open court unless the coroner orders otherwise.’ Britain’s Daily Express newspaper reports that Lord Baker’s ruling means statements from former MI6 officer Richard Tomlinson, who has previously suggested that Diana’s death may not have been an accident, will not be made available to the jury unless the coroner allows it.
There have been many conspiracy theories into the death of the princess, with some claiming that the driver of the car, Henri Paul, was on the payroll of the British intelligence services.
Mohamed Al Fayed, whose son, and Diana’s lover, Dodi also died in the crash, has always maintained that the couple were murdered.
He has claimed that Lord Stevens’ originally inquiry, which ruled Diana and Dodi were killed accidentally by a drunk driver, ignored many witness statements and the views of independent experts.

Desmond Kellaway - who caused a massive security scare when he was caught outside Charles’ Gloucestershire residence of Highgrove in January - pleaded guilty to being equipped for theft at Cheltenham Magistrates Court yesterday (20.06.07).
Charles and his wife Camilla were asleep inside the manor when 55-year-old Kellaway entered the royal grounds armed with a broken pitchfork, a hacksaw, two screwdrivers and a Hessian sack.
However, the father-of-five - who has 19 previous convictions dating back almost 40 years - claimed he had posed no threat to the prince, and thought he was ‘a brilliant bloke’. After being arrested at the scene, Kellaway told police his car had broken down and he had confused the property’s lights for a village.
The Bristol man changed his mind in court and admitted he had been operating with the intention to commit theft.
Kellaway was fined £100 and ordered to pay £40 costs. His lawyer, Helen Smith, insisted her client had no idea the property he was entering was Charles’ home. Kellaway told reporters after the case: ‘I’ve always been a royalist. I thank Prince Charles for dropping the trespass charge. He is a really nice chap. But they need to sort their security. If I was a bomber I could have driven a truck of explosives across those fields or just shot both guards.’

Tom Parker Bowles - Britain’s Prince Charles’ stepson - enjoyed dinner with the leggy socialite at London’s Cipriani restaurant on Tuesday (19.06.07).
The 31-year-old food columnist joined Jemima, 33, just hours after she called police to ask for help finding her missing £1,000 Bengal cat.
A fellow diner said: ‘She seemed to have forgotten about the cat.’ Jemima - the ex-wife of former Pakistan cricketer Imran Khan - is currently rumoured to be attempting to reconcile her three-year on/off romance with British actor Hugh Grant.
Tom is married to Sara Buys, a features editor for society magazine Harpers + Queen. The couple are expecting their first child in September.

The 24-year-old prince reportedly got friendly with the singer after a series of phone conversations to discuss her performance at the upcoming Concert for Diana.
However, David Woolf, a representative for the 20-year-old musician, has denied rumours William ‘bombarded’ her with calls.
He said: ‘They just talked about what songs she is going to sing at the concert.’ Woolf revealed that Joss will perform her track ‘You Had Me’, a cover of classic Queen hit ‘Under Pressure’ and a song by one of Princess Diana’s favourite singers Tina Turner.

The future king, who celebrated his 25th birthday yesterday (21.06.07), is planning on flying himself and four friends to the Somerset site in a private helicopter.
However, unlike the other 170,000 festival goers, William, who is a trained pilot, will not be staying in a tent and has instead booked into an upmarket camper van.
A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: ‘As well as booking a very swanky camper van, they’ve already sorted out loads of booze which will be waiting for them, and they’re planning to use a luxury barbecue too.
‘They’re even having some speciality ice-cream delivered.’ With torrential rain expected over the weekend, William’s friends have planned a surprise for him - a pair of feminine Wellington boots.
The source added: ‘William will laugh his head off because the lads thought it would be hilarious to give him some pink and orange wellies.’ Acts due to perform at the musical extravaganza include The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse and The Who.

We had a massive run on cream and beige which drove the odds from 8/1 to 25/1 in a matter of hours. ‘Clearly word had got round that cream was the one to back and we had hundreds of punters sticking fivers and tenners on it.’ Betting on the colour of queen’s hat for Ladies’ Day has become a tradition.

The 74-year-old singer - the widow of murdered former Beatle John Lennon - admits she will have to tread carefully with her memoirs, to avoid upsetting the Fab Four’s children and families.
She said: ‘I want to write my autobiography one day, but still don’t have the time. ‘Also, there are things that I can’t write because it may hurt someone. I think about how it might hurt (their) children, and I don’t want to do that.’ Yoko also fears the wrath of fans who still blame her for the break-up of the group in 1969.
She insists John’s bandmates, Ringo Starr, Sir Paul McCartney and the late George Harrison sent her statements absolving her from any blame in their split.
Yoko also revealed she considered leaving her apartment in New York’s Dakota building after John was shot outside the building in 1980.
However, she decided to stay because the couple’s son Sean, who was five at the time of his father’s death, was attached to the home.

Marc Forster will direct Daniel Craig – who will reprise his role as the suave British spy - for the movie currently with the working title ‘Bond 22′.
Forster, who directed the Oscar-winning ‘Monster’s Ball’ and ‘Finding Neverland’, will write the script with ‘Crash’ director Paul Haggis - who helped pen the last Bond instalment ‘Casino Royale’.
Forster said: "I have also always been a Bond fan, so it is very exciting to take on this challenge. ‘I have always been drawn to different kinds of stories.’ He also said he is looking forward to working with Craig, who made his debut as 007 in ‘Casino Royale’.
He added: ‘The new direction that the Bond character has taken offers a director a host of new possibilities and I look forward to working with Daniel Craig.’ Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: "We are delighted that Marc Forster, with his exceptional talent and unique vision, has agreed to direct our next James Bond film.’ The 22nd Bond film will begin shooting at London’s Pinewood Studios this December, with a release date set for 2008.

The couple reportedly plan to stage the peace protest on the acoustic stage as part of the Babyshambles singer’s solo set at the legendary Somerset music festival.
A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper: ‘Pete is playing the festival with Babyshambles and also taking on an acoustic set under his own steam.
‘He asked Kate to join him and they both thought it would be nice to do something different - more of an installation that a straightforward performance, ‘They’ve been writing a lot of poetry lately and feeling quite political.
‘Like John and Yoko, they’re hoping to turn the relentless fascination with their relationship into something positive.’ John and his wife Yoko made their legendary two-week-long duvet protest against the Vietnam war in 1969, during their honeymoon at the Amsterdam Hilton.
The 33-year-old supermodel and Pete are said to be equally frustrated about how little the recent G8 summit - a conference with representatives from the UK, the US, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, Russia and Germany - appeared to achieve in solving world issues.

Earlier this year, the 40-year-old rocker said he was considering the names Chutney or Gizmo if the baby is a boy because he doesn’t want his son to have an ordinary name.
He said: ‘Chutney is one I fancy if the baby is a geezer. Maybe Gizmo Gallagher, or Gilly Gallagher.
