SAMBORA ‘DETOXING FROM ALCOHOL’
LATEST: BON JOVI rocker RICHIE SAMBORA has dismissed reports he checked into rehab earlier this month (Jun07) - he detoxed from alcohol instead.
The 47-year-old guitarist spent a few days at the UCLA Medical Center to treat what was previously an undisclosed problem.
Sambora has had a tough year - his divorce from actress Heather Locklear was finalised in April (07) and he recently split from girlfriend Denise Richards (07). His father also passed away from lung cancer.
Speaking on U.S. TV show Today this morning (19Jun07), Sambora said, "I did detox. I didn’t check into rehab.
"Instead of me heading into a place - I was just drinking too much and I needed to get my life together. My dad died too. It’s been a rough year.
"I’m still in therapy and stuff like that, but it’s good. I’m great. I feel fine." Bandmate Jon Bon Jovi added, "We’ve been through everything together and there was no way that we were not going to be supporting Richie right now - and that’s what we’re doing. He’s been through the fire, and we’ve been there for him."
