An explosive biography about Britain’s late princess Diana was launched at a glamorous reception last night (18.06.07).
Journalist Tina Brown introduced ‘The Diana Chronicles’ at London’s Serpentine Gallery, in Kensington Gardens.
Princess Diana famously appeared at the venue in a figure-hugging black dress on the same night her husband Prince Charles confessed his adultery on TV.
In her book, Brown reveals many of the princess’s more intimate moments, including revelations about her sex life.
These include claims that Charles and Diana had sex before their 1981 marriage on what Brown dubs the ‘Royal Love Train’.
Brown, 53, first wrote about Diana as editor of society magazines Tatler, Vanity Fair and The New Yorker.
She had lunch with the princess at New York’s Four Seasons six weeks before her death in a Paris tunnel in 1997.
The author claims that Diana revealed plans to become a humanitarian ambassador for Britain’s Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Meanwhile, royal author Sarah Bradford claims that Brown has exploited her own book ‘Diana’.
Bradford told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘It really is a bit much. As I trudge through it I keep coming across stories which all seem so familiar but are not quite right. I feel thoroughly exploited.’ A spokesperson for Brown said: ‘If there are any stories that are similar, then this is a tiny fragment in a vast, brilliant mosaic.’
