PACINO WENT BLIND WITH DAUGHTER’S HELP
AL PACINO mastered playing blind in hit film THE SCENT OF A WOMAN by studying his young daughter playing a sightless person.
The movie star was tempted to go to great lengths to research his role as a blind former army Lieutenant Colonel, but found a much easier way to nail the role.
He explains, "I remember my oldest daughter, Julie, who is going to college, was a little girl at the time, and I asked her to show me how she would play a blind girl.
"I said, ‘That’s good, thanks.’ So it was partially that. And then of course I studied film… You just don’t focus.
"After a while you get into it, and you feel that. You don’t see anything really. Your eyes are open but you don’t see anything."
