PRESLEY’S PILL BOTTLE UNDER THE HAMMER
LATEST: A pill bottle once owned by ELVIS PRESLEY has sold for a staggering $2,640 (£1,320) at auction in California.
Saturday’s (16Jun07) annual Julien’s Summer Auction saw the undated bottle for the antihistamine and decongestant drug Naldecon sell alongside the rock icon’s gold-plated gun, which fetched $28,800 (£14,400).
Presley gave the Walther PPK as a gift to Hawaii-Five-O star Jack Lord in 1973. It was sold with a licence to use it.
Also under the hammer at the Beverly Hills sale was Alfred Hitchcock’s passport and the umbrella used by Marilyn Monroe in a famous 1949 seaside photo shoot by Andre de Dienes.
