LATEST: Actor ALEC BALDWIN and his ex-wife KIM BASINGER are no closer to resolving their bitter custody battle, after the Departed star branded yesterday’s court appearance "a waste of time".
The former couple have been locked in a legal fight to determine custody of their 11-year-old daughter Ireland since their divorce in 2002, but five years later, there is still no resolution in sight.
The proceedings have also been hampered by the leaking of an angry voicemail message Baldwin left for his daughter on his ex’s answering machine earlier this year (07), in which the actor verbally chastises Ireland and calls his Basinger "a thoughtless pain in the ass".
He has since apologised for the "improper" message.
Appearing at the closed hearing at Los Angeles Superior court on Friday (15Jun07), Baldwin and Basinger sat far apart from one another, leaving their lawyers to battle it out.
Baldwin was seen leaving the courtroom on two occasions during the four-hour hearing, and later emerged saying, "This is a waste of my f**king time." Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Maren Nelson had previously expressed her determination to discover who released the answer phone rant to the media, but no further light was shed on the matter yesterday.
Baldwin and Basinger are due back in court for another hearing on 25 June (07).

JOSS STONE has prompted reports of a romance with British heir PRINCE WILLIAM after claims the royal regularly calls the singer to discuss her performance at the forthcoming Diana, Princess of Wales concert.
Stone is among a number of acts due to perform at the London gig on 1 July (07) , to mark what would have been the Princess’s 46th birthday - including Sir Elton John and Duran Duran - but friends claim single Stone, 20, has been getting special treatment from the 24-year-old prince, who recently split from longterm love Kate Middleton.

ROLLING STONES rockers KEITH RICHARDS and RONNIE WOOD have kissed and made up after a backstage row on tour over alcohol.
Recovering alcoholic Wood is rumoured to have snapped after Richards branded him "boring" because he refused to drink with him - and then slipped onstage at a gig in Belgium because he was drunk.
But Wood’s son Jamie insists the pair have reconciled. He tells British newspaper The Sun, "Dad is dad and Keith’s Keith. They are always falling out with each other. They are like a pair of teenagers sometimes.

ROD STEWART and PENNY LANCASTER’s family and friends have gathered in Italy to celebrate their wedding today (16Jun07).

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY tried to get rock pal NOEL GALLAGHER arrested for shoplifting when he spotted the OASIS star browsing in the same London department store recently.
Songwriter Gallagher was shocked to bump into the rock legend, and grateful security staff didn’t take the former Beatle seriously.
He says, "I bumped into Paul in Selfridges. I was in the menswear department and I heard someone say quite loud ‘watch him, shoplifter’. I looked round and it was McCartney. I hadn’t seen him for a while and we had a chat."

PARIS HILTON is the most popular inmate at her Los Angeles prison - the other prisoners are getting special treatment because of her.
Soraya Lopez, 35, claims she was released early from Los Angeles’ Century Regional Detention Center because Hilton is incarcerated there - and also alleges other prisoners are getting better privileges because the spotlight is on the heiress.
Lopez says, "The whole facility is benefiting from her - we all thank her.
"She’s the talk of the jail - I’d call her the top dog. People are getting fed more and inmates like me are being let out sooner because they don’t want people around her."

LATEST: British entertainer MICHAEL BARRYMORE has been released without charge, after being arrested on suspicion of murder.
Barrymore and two other men were arrested on Thursday (14Jun07) for questioning about the murder and serious sexual assault of a Stuart Lubbock, who was found dead in a swimming pool at the 55-year-old’s home in March 2001.
He and another suspect Justin Merritt, have been released on police bail pending further enquiries. The third man - Barrymore’s former lover Jonathan Kenny - is thought to be in hospital and too ill to be questioned.
Barrymore, whose TV career collapsed after the tragedy, has always categorically denied having anything to do with Lubbock’s death.

Actor EWAN McGREGOR has donated $2,000 (£1,000) to help a round-the-world cyclist complete his dream journey.
The star ran into 38-year-old Jason Lewis in Africa’s Sahara Desert, while on his own motorcycle trek from Scotland to Cape Town, South Africa.
When Lewis explained his 13-year journey - due to end in October (07) - was at risk because of money shortages, McGregor and partner Charley Boorman handed over the money from their own funds.

Humphries, best known for his character Dame Edna Everage, will be a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), with Glastonbury Festival Founder Michael Eavis.
Rushdie, the author of controversial book The Satanic Verses, will be knighted by the Queen and become Sir Salman Rushdie.
The awards mark the Queen’s official Birthday on 16 June (07) and will be presented in ceremonies later this year (07).

Sacked GREY’S ANATOMY star ISAIAH WASHINGTON will return to the hit medical drama - if writer/creator SHONDA RIMES asks him.
The actor admits he’s bitter about his departure from the show, but he’ll jump at the chance to return for a cameo.
He tells American magazine Entertainment Weekly, "Dr. Burke (his character) is probably the greatest challenge I’ve ever had. I’ve studied the medical world extensively. I gave it everything I had.
"If Shonda calls me and says, ‘Look, we want you to do something for Grey’s Anatomy,’ I probably would not hesitate.
"But I don’t really see that happening."

Former U.S. President RONALD REAGAN didn’t know he had been shot when a man attempted to assassinate him in 1981 - he only realised when he started coughing up blood.
Reagan had been in power for just 69 days when gunman John Hinckley, Jr.
tried to kill him on 30 March (81), following a speaking engagement at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C.
Reagan was shot once in the chest, with the bullet piercing his left lung and narrowly missing his heart.
But in the forthcoming The Reagan Diaries featuring the late politician’s own memoirs, Reagan describes how he thought he had been accidentally injured by his bodyguard, who forced him to the ground the moment he heard gunfire.
Reagan writes, "Left the hotel at the usual side entrance and headed for the car - suddenly there was a burst of gun fire from the left. Secret Service Agent pushed me onto the floor of the car & jumped on top. I felt a blow in my upper back that was unbelievably painful. I was sure he’d broken my rib.
"The car took off. I sat up on the edge of the seat almost paralysed by pain.
Then I began coughing up blood which made both of us think - yes, I had a broken rib & it had punctured a lung. (We were driven) to George Washington University Hospital.
"It was then we learned I’d been shot & had a bullet in my lung. Getting shot hurts. I opened my eyes once to find Nancy (his wife) there. I pray I’ll never face a day when she isn’t there. Whatever happens now I owe my life to God and will try to serve him in every way I can." Reagan stepped down as president in 1989 and died in 2004.

ELLEN DeGENERES stole the show at last night’s (15Jun07) Daytime Emmys, winning the Best Talk Show Host award for the third year running.
After picking up her first prize - the comedienne’s show also won the Best Talk Show award - DeGeneres praised presenter Rosie O’Donnell, who quit talk show The View after a bust-up with co-host Elizabeth Hasselbeck.
She said, "I liked what she did. This was the year she should have won. I wanted to acknowledge Rosie because she has done a lot." Other winners included the newly-retired Bob Barker for Best Game Show Host.
The Best Soap Award was split between two nominees for the first time ever after judges couldn’t decide a winner from Guiding Light and The Young And The Restless.
The Best Performer in a Children’s Series category was also split - between Sesame Street’s Oscar the Grouch and Elmo, played by Caroll Spinney and Kevin Clash.
Last night’s ceremony took place at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre - the home of the Academy Awards.

R&B singer CHERI DENNIS has hit out at Florida police for the brutal treatment she received last week when she was taken into custody for resisting arrest.
Dennis - who is signed to Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Bad Boy label - had a run in with local authorities last Friday (08Jun07) when cops pulled over her car and accused her cousin of carrying a gun.
The pair was asked to step out of the vehicle so the officers could conduct a search, but after Dennis began to voice her concern at the way they were being treated, she claims she was unnecessarily attacked with pepper spray.
She tells SOHH.com, "I was arrested Friday night for resisting arrest. It was non violent. I was in Tampa and was stopped by the cops who, for some reason, thought my cousin had a gun. They searched him, threw him up against the car.
"I started asking questions and asking for badge numbers and names of the officers. They got to shoving and they pepper sprayed me and they locked my ass up. It wasn’t like it was a big altercation." And Dennis is convinced the officers were only behaving so irrationally because they were probably being filmed for TV.
She adds, "I think that (the officers) were being filmed for ‘C.O.P.S.’ or some reality show, if I’m not mistaken… so they were being really over zealous.
They just turned the whole thing up to 20. It was just a big misunderstanding."

LATEST: The funeral for slain rapper STACK BUNDLES will feature a heightened police presence when the ceremony is held next week in New York.
The Byrd Gang member - real name Rayquon Elliot - was shot and killed outside his home in Queens earlier this week (11Jun07). He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died soon afterwards from his two gunshot wounds.
Hip-hop stars Jim Jones and Fabolous are among the mourners expected to pay their respects to Elliot at the service on Monday (18Jun07) in Jamaica, Queens.

Rapper Paperboy was arrested earlier this week after police found $1,200 (£600)-worth of marijuana in his car.
The Ditty star - real name Mitchell Johnson - was stopped by Merced, California, authorities on Wednesday (13Jun07) night and a subsequent search of his car revealed his large stash of the illegal drug.
Johnson was taken into police custody and charged with the transportation of marijuana for sale, suspicion of possession and sale of marijuana and possession of more than one ounce of marijuana.
The rapper has reportedly been under police investigation for several weeks, but a search of his West Coast residence shortly after his arrest failed to uncover any further incriminating evidence.
His bail has been set at $20,000 (£10,000), according to AllHipHop.com.

50 CENT will not be called upon to testify as a character witness in basketball star ALLEN IVERSON’s upcoming assault case, because the rapper lives too far away.
The Denver Nuggets baller has been hit with charges including assault and conspiracy in relation to a bar fight involving the star and his security in Washington in 2005.
Two unnamed men are suing Iverson as a result of the altercation, where he is accused of hitting one of them with a bottle.
Although 50 Cent was not involved in the incident or named in the lawsuit, he is said to know members of Iverson’s security, and attorneys for the two plaintiffs have appealed to the rapper to give evidence regarding the defendants’ usual behaviour.
But a federal judge has this week (ends15Jun07) excused the In Da Club hitmaker from court duties, because as he lives more than 100 miles (160 kilometers) away from the courthouse in Connecticut and is not directly involved in the case, she has no authority to order his appearance in a Washington state court, reports AllHipHop.com.
Iverson’s trial is set to begin on 27 June (07).

The Bonnaroo music festival in Manchester, Tennessee got off to a tragic start yesterday (15Jun07) when a 25-year-old Kentucky man was found dead on the site.
The man was discovered by campers yesterday morning and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A festival spokesman says, "The investigators are still talking to friends that came down with him and some of the medical staff at Bonnaroo to make a determination on the cause of death." An autopsy will be carried out on the body later today (16Jun07).
The sixth annual roots and rock festival kicked off on Thursday night (14Jun07). This year’s four-day event is a sell-out, with all 80,000 tickets sold.
Highlights are expected to include The Police, Franz Ferdinand, Tool, Kings of Leon, The Flaming Lips and Lily Allen.
