THE GAME REJECTS GUILTY PLEA DEAL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:02 am

Rapper THE GAME has rejected the chance to plead guilty to impersonating a police officer in exchange for a sentence of time already served.
The Dreams star - real name Jayceon Taylor - turned down the prosecution’s offer at a New York court hearing yesterday (13Jun07).
The Game is accused of telling a taxi driver he was a cop in an effort to persuade the man to run a series of red lights after his appearance on TV’s The Late Show With David Letterman last November (06).
The hip-hop star has already served time in jail between his arrest and his first court appearance relating to the case.
If he had accepted the prosecution’s offer and pleaded guilty, the case against him would have ended.
His lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman tells Billboard.com, "Why should he plead guilty to bogus charges for a non-jail sentence if he’s innocent? "And he is innocent. It’s rare that I have a 100 per cent innocent defendant, but this is one." The Game is scheduled to return to court on 20 September (07).
