Television favourite DON HERBERT has died following a battle with bone cancer.
He was 89.
Herbert was famed for his role as Mr. Wizard, a 1980s U.S. TV teacher who introduced generations of young viewers to the joys of science.
Former colleague Steve Jacobs says, "He really taught kids how to use the thinking skills of a scientist." Herbert died at his suburban Bell Canyon, Los Angeles, home on Tuesday (12Jun07).
He is survived by six children and stepchildren and by his second wife, Norma.
