In Tina Brown’s new book ‘The Diana Chronicles’ the author claims the princess’ mother Frances Shand Kydd had a long-running affair with Jemima’s father Sir James Goldsmith during her marriage to Earl Spencer.
She suggests Diana - who was born in 1961 - may have been Goldsmith’s love child and not Spencer’s daughter.
But the writer - who is said to have received a £1 million advance from publishers for the controversial book - could not prove the story.
Goldsmith’s daughter Jemima, 33, divorced cricket ace Imran Khan in 2004 after nine yeas of marriage and went on to date actor Hugh Grant, but split from him earlier this year.
Brown’s book - published next week - also claims Diana was in love with a Pakistani heart surgeon named Hasnat Khan. She writes the princess did not love Dodi Al Fayed - with whom she was killed in the Paris car crash in August 1997 - but conducted the romance out of retaliation against the British Royal Family.

Denmark’s Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik have posed for a series of photographs with their four grandchildren to mark their 40th wedding anniversary. The royal couple chose to commemorate the special date in a tribute to their treasured role as doting grandparents. One of the photos is an informal snap of the queen and Henrik sat on the carpet with their three grandsons - Prince Joachim’s sons Felix, four, and Nikolai, seven, and Prince Frederik’s eldest child, 20-month-old Christian, with wife Princess Mary - who are all cheerfully playing with toy trucks.
In another shot, Margrethe is seen cradling and gazing happily into the eyes of the family’s newest addition, Christian’s baby sister who was born on April 21. The princess is the queen’s first granddaughter, and will not be officially named until she is christened, in keeping with the family’s tradition. The occasion also marks the first time pictures of the baby princess have been released since her official portrait last month. The relaxed and touching photos, taken at Fredensborg Palace, clearly show how close Margrethe and Prince Henrik are with their family, and how highly they value their roles as grandparents.

The portrait by artist Nicholas Hilliard will go under the hammer at London auction house Christie’s on June 5.
Hilliard is thought to have painted the image between 1595 and 1600, during the final years of Elizabeth’s reign.
The portrait portrays the queen as the mythological character Cynthia, Queen of the Seas and Land and depicts her looking younger than her true age - she would have been in her 60s at the time.
Other known versions of the piece are held in two collections at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, with another among the British Royal Collection. All the versions are slightly different, with variations in costume, background and all depicting the monarch as different mythological figures.
Hilliard was renowned for his ability to paint glittering jewellery and the detailed fabrics of his subjects’ costumes.
In his portrait of Elizabeth her costume is painted with more than one hundred pearls and other jewels.
The piece is one of 17 portrait miniatures from a private collection going up for auction.

The Australian singer is set to join the likes of Sir Elton John and The Beatles producer Sir George Martin and be acknowledged for her contribution to the music industry.
Kylie said: ‘It is an incredible honour to be the recipient of this year’s award and I am truly thrilled to be recognised in this way.’ The 38-year-old star will collect her award at a ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House on October 29.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 but returned to the pop scene in November last year with a sell-out Sydney concert.
Last week, it was reported 10 demos from her upcoming studio album had been leaked on to the internet.

The legendary rock band and their 200-strong entourage took over the 00.35am ferry sailing from Yarmouth to Lymington yesterday (11.06.07), leaving hundreds of pre-booked passengers stranded.
Steve McInally, 36, from Coventry, said: ‘I was cheering them on a few hours before but I have been cursing them since.’ Ferry company Wightlink apologised to the marooned festival-goers and laid on an extra 512-passenger boat at 2am to take them back to the mainland.
A spokesperson said: ‘We apologise to those hoping to get the 00.35am but this sailing was reserved for private use.’ Sir Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts splashed out £27,000 to charter the ferry for the return trip.
They brought their own security team and four huge trucks carrying all their equipment.
The Rolling Stones’ sensational performance at the music extravaganza on Sunday (10.06.07) was their first festival appearance in over 30 years.
The rockers hired out the whole of Newport’s Premiere Travel Inn for their trip, forcing all the other bands to move into specially erected tents away from the hotel.

Anne Heche has lost primary physical custody of her son. The actress’ estranged husband Coley Laffoon was awarded primary physical custody of five-year-old Homer along with an unspecified amount of child support.
Heche will have alternate weekend visits with him.
The freelance videographer and stay-at-home dad reportedly received ‘far below his original demand’ in child and spousal support. He had wanted $33,000-a-month to maintain the ‘marital standard of living’ to which he had become accustomed.
Laffoon filed for divorce in February amid rumours Heche was having an affair with her ‘Men In Trees’ co-star James Tupper.
Laffoon requested joint legal custody and primary physical custody of Homer, claiming Heche had ‘poor parenting skills’ and exhibited ‘bizarre and delusional behaviour’.
Heche hit back saying Laffoon spent more time at home because she was out earning a living while he was playing ping-pong and poker, checking out online porn and masturbating. Under the new ruling, Laffoon will reside in Los Angeles with Homer while Heche returns to Vancouver to film the second season of ‘Men In Trees’ next month.
Last month, the pair agreed to a temporary custody arrangement and promised to stop insulting each other in front of their son.

Marilyn Manson’s dad has threatened to kill Evan Rachel Wood if she breaks the rocker’s heart.
The shock rocker has revealed both he and the 19-year-old ‘Running With Scissors’ star have been warned not to hurt each other.
Manson, 38, told Rolling Stone magazine: ‘I found a strange ironic similarity with what her father said to me, and what my dad said to Evan, which was, ‘If you break his heart, I’ll kill you,’ or something along those lines.’ The ‘Heart-Shaped Glasses’ singer also appeared to hit out at his ex-wife - burlesque performer Dita Von Teese – by saying Evan was not just dating him to further her own career.

Madonna believes ‘women are the future of Africa’. The singer, who was inspired to adopt Malawian orphan David after visiting the poverty-stricken region last year, is now working on a documentary to increase awareness of the plight of African orphans. Madonna told Vanity Fair magazine: ‘I want to see girls with educations. I think women are the future of Africa.’ The pop superstar has teamed up with director Nathan Rissman to produce a film exploring the lives of the thousands of infants and children who have been orphaned, often as the result of HIV and AIDS. Madonna said recently: ‘I asked one of the children in Malawi, ‘If you’ve got the world listening to you, if there’s one thing you could say to the world, what would you say? And the boy said, ‘Please just help us forget we’re orphans.’ ‘ Madonna, 48, adopted 19-month-old David after travelling to Malawi to help build an orphanage as part of the Raising Malawi project in October.
