The Australian singer is set to join the likes of Sir Elton John and The Beatles producer Sir George Martin and be acknowledged for her contribution to the music industry.
Kylie said: ‘It is an incredible honour to be the recipient of this year’s award and I am truly thrilled to be recognised in this way.’ The 38-year-old star will collect her award at a ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House on October 29.
David Munn, Chairman of the Awards Committee, said: ‘Kylie deserves this award for her success over 20 years, staying at the top in one of the toughest professions and inspiring millions with her grace, dignity and humanity.’ Kylie launched her pop career in 1988 with the worldwide hit ‘I Should Be So Lucky’ and has since sold over 40 millions albums and 50 millions singles worldwide.
She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 but returned to the pop scene in November last year with a sell-out Sydney concert.
Last week, it was reported 10 demos from her upcoming studio album had been leaked on to the internet.
