Actor DENNIS LEARY is proud of his role as a firefighter on TV show Rescue Me, because it allows him to pay tribute to the New York City firemen who died in September 11th 2001.
The 49-year-old namechecks real firemen on the U.S. drama, which is set in New York.
He says, "Every so often I drop in the name of a real firefighter, a friend of mine who died on 9/11 which is sort of natural in the course of the conversation for these characters.
"So it’s always meaningful to hear the parents or the wives or the brothers and the sisters write us or call us and say, ‘Thank you so much for keeping his name alive.’ "So that’s one of the little side bars that we could do that makes you feel good."

The stars of upcoming movie DEAD OF WINTER were thrown out of a Minneapolis, Minnesota hotel last month (May07) for reportedly making too much noise while partying.
Actors Nestor Carbonello, Kaley Cuoco, Leighton Meester and Jason London are said to have disturbed guests at the city’s TownePlace Suites.
The actors were moved to another hotel nearby for the final two days of shooting.
An insider tells the National Enquirer, "The final straw was when the cast got together in one room on the top floor or the hotel, were drinking and started dancing to blaring music.
"When an employee told them they had to stop - it was five o’clock in the morning - they knocked out a pane in the window and climbed out onto the roof.
"The manager on duty had a fit. Drunk people on the roof of a hotel could easily fall off. So he ordered them to pack their bags and leave the hotel at once." However, Meester’s manager insists his client "had nothing to do with the hotel partying".

A judge has warned U.S. reality TV star JASON WAHLER to avoid drinking alcohol because he "can’t handle it".
The Laguna Beach star was charged with assault, criminal trespass and underage drinking last month (May07), in relation to an April (07) incident when he allegedly hurled racial and homophobic abuse at police while being arrested for punching a hotel security guard.
Prosecutors claimed that incident violated his probation for an assault in Los Angeles last September (06).
However, a Los Angeles judge yesterday (08Jun07) denied prosecutors’ motion Wahler had broken the terms of his probation, but warned the underage actor he "shouldn’t drink" and one more incident will result in him being taken into custody.
Wahler, who entered rehab in May (07), must continue attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and 36 more hours of anger management classes, reports website TMZ.com.

Actors DOUGRAY SCOTT and CLAIRE FORLANI married in a private civil ceremony in Italy yesterday (08Jun07).
The couple, who met a year and a half ago after being introduced by mutual friends, went on to enjoy their wedding reception at the Forlani family home in rural Pievebovigliana.
Speaking before the ceremony, Forlani’s Italian father told local newspaper Il Resto Del Carlino that, "I will be the official cook of the event." Desperate Housewives star Scott proposed to Meet Joe Black beauty Forlani in Los Angeles last September (06), reports website People.com.

KISS rocker TOMMY THAYER was overjoyed to be taken on a private tour of ELVIS PRESLEY’s Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee earlier this week (begs04Jun07).
The guitarist and his wife Amber were even allowed to park their car in front of Presley’s garage.
Thayer writes on his website: "While in Memphis this week, I was invited to take a private tour of Graceland. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, to check out Elvis Presley’s 14 acre private estate.
"Amber and I were told to drive directly to the main gate and we drove right up the driveway to the mansion and parked in front of Elvis’s garage.
"It was an incredible experience, seeing up close the home of The King of rock and roll!" Presley died on 16 August 1977 at the age of 42.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE rocker TOM MORELLO was forced to make his escape by boat after performing at last Saturday’s (02Jun07) Move Against G8 protest in Germany.
Morello was playing at the Rostock event, attended by between 50,000 and 60,000 people, under his solo guise as The Nightwatchman when riots broke out.
Morello says, "I headed into the crowd. Police began to attack the crowd with water hoses and tear gas. There were big fires. I saw members of the black bloc throwing bottles at police.
"After my set, I had to escape via small boat to the Baltic Sea. There were police boats blockading the entrance to the festival and we snuck out under cover of darkness."

The singer’s collaboration with Jay-Z, Umbrella, is the inaugural number one, beating out competition from Maroon 5’s Makes Me Wonder at two.

JENNIFER GARNER’s ex-husband SCOTT FOLEY wed MARIKA DOMINCZYK in a Hawaiian ceremony on Tuesday (05Jun07).
The couple, who met on the set of U.S. TV series The Help in 2003 and became engaged in October 2006, tied the knot in front of 30 guests at a private resort.
A spokesperson says, "They’re very happy." Foley was married to Garner between 2000 and 2003; Polish Dominczyk hasn’t been married before.

Country singers EMMYLOU HARRIS and LYLE LOVETT are among the stars taking part in a seven day music cruise in the Caribbean next February (08).
The pair join Shawn Colvin, John Hiatt, Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller on the inaugural Cayamo cruise, which sails through Cozumel, the Cayman Islands and Jamaica between 4 and 10 February.
Harris says, "I was asked if I wanted to do a cruise and I immediately said no, because I’ve never been on a cruise. The idea of going on a boat, it seems a little claustrophobic.
"And then they said, well Buddy’s doing it, and Buddy Miller is one of my favourite people in the whole world. I thought, well, if Buddy is doing it then I guess I’ll do it, and then, of course, I found out about all the other people that I’m real fans of, and friends with.
"And it is February, and we will be able to get out of Nashville."

LATEST: Socialite PARIS HILTON was in floods of tears when she left her home to attend a court hearing in the back of a police car earlier today (08Jun07).
Hilton had previously been given permission to sit in on the hearing - to determine whether she should be sent back to jail - via telephone, but Los Angeles judge Michael T. Sauer ordered she appear in person and sent a car to collect her from her Hollywood home.
Prosecutors are due to appeal the decision to release Hilton on house arrest yesterday (07Jun07) for medical reasons, and allow her to finish her sentence for violating probation at home.
Los Angeles Sheriff Lee Baca insists the decision was made on medical grounds, but critics believe she was granted preferential treatment.
The 26-year-old was serving a 23-day sentence in Los Angeles’ Century Regional Detention Center for violating her parole following a 2006 drink-driving arrest.

WILL & GRACE actress MEGAN MULLALLY has signed up to star in a musical adaptation of the 1974 comedy YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN.
Mullally will co-star alongside Tony Award winners Roger Bart, Sutton Foster, and Shuler Hensley in the adaptation of Mel Brooks’ classic movie when it opens at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, Washington on 7 August (07).

The 27-year-old found filming torture scenes soon took their toll on her general well-being.
She says, "After we’d shoot the torture stuff I’d go back to my apartment, I’d be lying in bed. I’d be just about to fall asleep and I’d think something was coming to get me.
"It was so crazy and I’d shoot across the room and bang my knee and I thought my apartment was haunted.

Country star TOBY KEITH will open another branch of his I Love This Bar And Grill restaurant in Catoosa, Oklahoma next year (08).
The singer/songwriter, who was born in Clinton, Oklahoma, will see the eatery open its doors in the Cherokee Casino Resort, which is currently in the middle of a $125 million (£62.5 million) expansion.
The new restaurant is set to be ready by late 2008.

Legendary actor AL PACINO was honoured with The American Film Institute’s prestigious 35th Lifetime Achievement Award last night (07Jun07).
The Serpico star collected his award in front of a star-packed crowd at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles including Andy Garcia, Oliver Stone, Jamie Foxx, Kirk Douglas and Robin Williams.
Pacino was surprised by the screaming fans outside the venue and quipped, "I’m having a Clooney - a George Clooney moment." He added, "It’s a kind of wild, crazy reminder of what you’ve done with your whole life.

Argentine guitarist CACHO TIRAO has died after suffering a stroke. He was 66.
Tirao passed away at Argerich Hospital in Buenos Aires on 30 May (07).
Starting out as a child radio star, Tirao went on to become one of Argentina’s biggest stars as a solo guitarist.
In the late 1960s, he joined the Astor Piazzolla Quintet before recording 36 albums as a solo artist.

U.S. rockers MURDERDOLLS have raised hopes of a reunion after singer WEDNESDAY 13 voiced his intentions of recording a second album with the band - five years after the release of their 2002 debut.
The White Wedding stars played their last gig together in January 2004 and announced they were to take a hiatus to focus on individual projects.
And while a return of the Murderdolls has looked bleak in the years since their last concert in Corona, California, Wednesday 13 insists there is still a small possibility they will get back into the studio to record a follow-up to Beyond The Valley of the Murderdolls.
Writing on his MySpace page, he says, "The idea that MURDERDOLLS would reunite and record has been floating around like a ghost for almost five years now.
"I can’t say no it won’t ever happen because I’m not a psychic. I would like to think there is a possibility someday, but who knows? We all have moved on since those days and grew away from it but I know deep down inside we all think sometime… ‘Hey, what if we did one more?’"
