Date escape

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:29 pm

A Romanian prisoner who escaped because he missed his girlfriend, may now be sentenced to a further five years.
Titi Panait - who was jailed for three-and-a-half years for theft - was found naked in his girlfriend’s home eight hours after his break out from a work camp in Jilava, near Bucharest.
When police arrived at the Bucharest house he told them: "I thought I could come back to jail but then I realised you are paid to find me so I decided to wait for you here." Panait claimed he needed "quality time" with his girlfriend because "life in jail is so stressful".

A British bishop has been giving commuters egg times to symbolise "the gift of time".
The Right Reverend Stephen Cottrell, Bishop of Reading, is urging people to slow down and find time to enjoy life.
He declared dawdling, long lie-ins, resting, and easing off from work can help produce "an adventure of self-discovery and creativity".
Bishop Cottrell handed out the egg timers to commuters at Reading railway station and urged them to share in his philosophy.
He said: "By learning to sit still, slow down, by discerning when to shut up and when to speak out, you learn to travel through life differently.
"There is a new delight and purpose in the mundane and the ordinary things of life.
"Making tea becomes a treat, travelling to work an adventure."

Mobile phone ringtones of cows mooing are being used to lure Indian leopards into traps.
Gujarat forest guards are using the unusual animal noises to stop the vicious animals wandering into human villages.
The guards have also downloaded sounds of goats bleating and roosters crowing to their mobile phones, which they play via speakers to lure the leopards into cages.
Mr Vasani, a senior forest official in Gujarat, said: "The moos of a cow, bleating of a goat from the phone has proved effective to trap leopards.
This trick works." Five leopards have so far been lured from villages since the new method was introduced a month ago.
They have all been released back into the wild.

British Royal Air Force chiefs have banned pilots painting topless women on their jets.
RAF bosses say pin-up-style images - which traditionally decorate the nosecones of jets - may be offensive to female recruits.
A senior RAF source said: "Ground crews in Afghanistan decided to paint some pin-ups on their Harriers.
"But in the petty PC world we live in, they first had to change them to silhouettes then remove them. They are not happy." The tradition of decorating jets with scantily-clad beauties was started in World War II, when images of Rita Hayworth adorned Lancaster bombers.
British Navy bosses have also banned the racy images from their ships.

A Polish man has woken up from a 19 year coma.
Railway worker Jan Grzebski, 65, had been in a perpetual state of sleep since he was hit by a train in 1988.
Grzebski said he is amazed that the Communist party is no longer in power and food is not rationed.

"What amazes me today is all these people who walk around with their mobile phones and never stop moaning. I’ve got nothing to complain about." Grzebski praised his wife Gertruda for not giving up on him when doctors said he only had two years to live.

The men found themselves on the wrong side of the law after performing their trick at Tennessee’s Blum Plum Festival in Johnson City.

Both men were charged with reckless endangerment.

Posted in: Bizzare Stories — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:29 pm

British contractors have been ordered to repaint wonky road markings they painted in the dark.
The wobbly markings on the A337 Lyndhurst to Cadnam road in New Forest, Hampshire, have been amusing motorists since they appeared over a week ago.
The workers had attempted to paint the lines at night, using only a small mobile light.
Chairman of Lyndhurst Parish Council George Bisson said: "Presumably they were doing it then to prevent traffic disruption but perhaps it was counter-productive." A spokeswoman for Hampshire County Council said they had refused the work for its bad quality and insisted the contractors repaint the lines.

  • Britain’s Prince Charles has had to halt the renovation work on his recently purchased Welsh farmhouse after bats were found roosting in an outbuilding.

Posted in: Royal News — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:05 pm

The prince is converting his remote £1.2 million Llwynynwormwood estate in Myddfai, Carmarthenshire, into a holiday complex and an initially report into bat and owl activity concluded building work would have minimal impact on the wildlife.
But common pipistrelle and brown long-eared bats have now been found roosting in a building on the estate which Charles has applied to transform into a £2 million luxury 11-bed resort.
He now has a month to call in a bat expert to decide what must be done.
One of the prince’s aides told Britain’s Daily Telegraph newspaper: ‘These are lucky, lucky, bats.
‘They will be the best cared for, most comfortably accommodated bats in the whole of Britain.
‘The prince is a huge fan of bats. I shouldn’t be surprised if they are treated to a princely organic diet as well.’ Depending on where the roosts are, the prince may have to drastically change his plans.
In some cases, where the demolition of a building is requested, owners are permitted to provide an alternative roost nearby. Bats and their roosts are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
It is an offence to kill or injure a bat or to intentionally or recklessly damage, destroy or obstruct access to any place a bat uses for shelter or protection. Fines can reach up to £5,000 per bat affected, or six months in jail.

The screening of photographs showing Britain’s Princess Diana’s ‘dying moments’ has triggered an investigation by broadcasting watchdog Ofcom. Channel 4 received a torrent of complaints from outraged viewers after airing their documentary ‘Diana: The Witnesses In The Tunnel’ on Wednesday night (06.06.07), which included images of the princess receiving oxygen from paramedics as she lay slumped in the wreckage of the 1997 Paris car crash that claimed her life. Ofcom are launching an investigation after 24 people complained to them directly, and 2,000 angry viewers complained on the Channel 4 website. A number of the complaints expressed sympathy for Diana’s sons, Princes William, 24, and Harry, 22. The royal brothers had written to TV bosses pleading for the ‘upsetting’ scenes to be cut from the programme. Channel 4 ignored the request and insisted screening the photographs was in the ‘public interest’.
One irate viewer wrote on the network’s website the programme was a ‘disgrace’, while another wrote, ‘This is just wrong on all levels’.
More than three and a half million tuned in to watch the documentary.
A spokesman for Channel 4 said: ‘This is a strong performance for a history documentary and it seems viewers tuned in to make up their own minds.’

When asked who she would tip to win the honour - voted for by the public - out of Italian jockey Frankie Dettori and Formula One star Lewis Hamilton she replied: ‘I have no idea - it’s a long way off yet? Can Frankie win? He’s Italian.
‘To be honest I’ve not paid much attention to it and I didn’t when I won.’ Zara - who scooped the prestigious award after claiming both the world and European three-day event championship titles - revealed her gong has pride of place on her windowsill.
She added: ‘The award is on a windowsill at home.’ The royal - who was also named Equestrian of the Year last September - dedicated her win to the memory of her close friend Sherelle Duke, who was killed aged 28 in a horse-riding accident last August.
