Hollywood star ANGELINA JOLIE would rather be remembered for her humanitarian work than her movie career.
Jolie found fame as an actress but has used her celebrity to campaign for refugees and the world’s poor through her work as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations.
Yesterday (07Jun07) she was honoured for her philanthropic work by joining the prestigious Council on Foreign Relations - an exclusive group including Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter and Condoleeza Rice.
And the star insists changing the world is more important to her than winning acting awards.
Jolie says, "When I die, do I want to be remembered as an actress? No. I recently had a column published in a newspaper and at the end it didn’t say I was an actress. It said that I was a UN Goodwill Ambassador - that’s all. And I was really proud."

Campaigning rocker BONO has blasted the G8’s pledge to spend $60 billion (£30 billion) on the fight against Aids, malaria and tuberculosis in Africa insisting only a fraction of that sum will be spent.
The leaders of the G8 nations made the vow at the summit in Germany today (08Jun07) - revealing half the amount would be provided by the U.S.
But Bono and anti-poverty campaigners believe only $3 billion (£1.5 billion) will be new money - and that the G8 aren’t doing all they can to alleviate third world suffering.
He says, "I think it is deliberately the language of obfuscation. It is deliberately misleading."

LATEST: A Los Angeles judge has stepped in and ordered PARIS HILTON to appear at a court hearing today (08Jun07) - after she was reportedly given permission to sit in on the hearing via the phone.
Lawyers representing the socialite have been locked in a battle with the Los Angeles City Attorney and the Sheriff’s Department over whether she could be allowed to stay at home for the hearing - ordered following her release from jail yesterday (07Jun07).
After initially reporting that she had been granted permission to phone in her appearance, TMZ.com is now claiming that Judge Michael T. Sauer has ordered Hilton to appear at 9pm (PDT) and dispatched a car to pick her up from her Hollywood home.
Prosecutors are due to appeal the decision to release Hilton on house arrest yesterday, and allow her to finish her sentence for violating probation at home.
Los Angeles Sheriff Lee Baca insists the decision was made on medical grounds, but critics believe she was granted preferential treatment.

OCEAN’S THIRTEEN star GEORGE CLOONEY has hit out at troubled hotel heiress PARIS HILTON - accusing her of using "cheap tricks" to maintain her celebrity profile.
Clooney believes the Simple Life star is a hypocrite for manipulating the press attention to create her current ’star’ status, only for her to turn around and bemoan the media frenzy her recent legal troubles in relation to a 2006 drink-drive arrest have caused.
He says, "You can only get so far without discernable talent - then you either work, or use cheap publicity tricks to keep the public’s attention.

SOFT CELL frontman MARC ALMOND was forced to host superstar MADONNA in a prostitute and drug-ridden apartment block when she visited the U.K. in the 1980’s.

British director GURINDER CHADHA gave birth to boy and girl twins at a London hospital yesterday (07Jun07), after undergoing an emergency Caesarian section.
The twins are 47-year-old Chadha, and her husband Paul Berges’ first children.
The babies weren’t due until next month (Jul07), but the Bend It Like Beckham director predicted they would arrive early.
Chadha said in an interview in February (07), "It’s twins - there’s lots of twins in my family. Paul and I have been married for 10 years so we’re thrilled. It’s been very hard to plan as we’ve been so busy. The babies are due in July, but twins always come early." Chadha has taken a break from her current project, a movie adaptation of the 1980s TV hit, Dallas. Berges is a co-writer on all of Chadha’s films.

LATEST: ISAIAH WASHINGTON is "mad as hell" after learning he was fired from hit U.S. medical drama GREY’S ANATOMY.
The troubled actor’s future on the show has been in doubt ever since he made a homophobic remark about castmate T.R. Knight last October (06) - a comment he repeated at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year (07).
And at the end of season three his character, Dr Preston Burke, was seen packing his bags on the cliffhanger finale.
Washington’s spokesperson Howard Bragman confirmed his client had received a call from the show’s creator Shonda Rimes informing the actor that he was "not invited back to the show next season", and the 43-year-old star today (08Jun07) released a statement addressing the situation.
In the statement, he simply says, "I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore."

OUTKAST star ANDRE 3000 is set to play SAMMY DAVIS JR. in a new biopic documenting the entertainer’s controversial romance with KIM NOVAK.
The film, entitled Sammy and Kim, will focus on the interracial relationship between Davis and the Caucasian actress, which caused controversy in the 1950s at a time when the African-American Civil Rights Movement was in beginning to take place.
Their affair threatened to put an end to both Davis and Novak’s careers, and the couple were reportedly forced to split after the actress’ bosses at Columbia Studios called the singer and pressured him into finishing the affair.
Andre 3000’s take on Davis for the silver screen is not the only movie about the star in the works - Denzel Washington is working on In Black and White, and another two films, named Yes, I Can, after Davis’ autobiography of the same name, are also planned. LATEST: British indie band THE CRIBS are furious at being slapped with an MTV video ban after the promo for their latest single was deemed "too shocking".
The three-piece from Yorkshire, England, received the TV injunction after scenes on the video for new release Men’s Needs prompted a complaint from U.K.
media watchdog Ofcom.
The contentious clips include drummer Ross Jarman’s arm apparently sliced off and bassist Ryan Jarman getting ‘beheaded’ - both branded inappropriate for a daytime audience after appearing on MTV2.
The video can now only be shown after a 9pm watershed but the group can’t understand why.
Jarman says, "It really p**sed me off. We’ve never had any problems with censorship really. I don’t know if it’s like one super conservative person or a malicious industry smear campaign. I just don’t get it really. It’s just one person complaint and yet its been watched like 100,000 times on YouTube. You should look to the majority vote really."

ROLLING STONE RONNIE WOOD’s son TYRONE confesses the rock bands’ offspring take drugs, just like their famous dads did.
The children of Wood, Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are all close friends and have grown up together - and 21-year-old Tyrone admits they have all experimented with illegal substances.
Wood says, "I grew up with other children like me, the Jaggers and the Richards. We have been together for years. We have been together for years - we even go on holiday together.
"We do drugs, that’s true. Mostly marijuana, E (Ecstasy) and some cocaine but we do it in moderation you know and now that we are getting jobs we have had to cut down a bit." He adds of his recovering alcoholic father, "Dad used to drink too much but now he is trying to beat it. He attends AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meetings in every city he visits on tour but, after 30 years it’s hard for him to stop. We both went to a hypnotist recently to try to quit smoking - I managed it but he didn’t."

BLOC PARTY frontman KELE OKEREKE remains defiant over his frank approach to cocaine and ecstasy on the band’s latest album, because he believes drug-taking isn’t "a big deal".
The British rocker has previously spoken about his experimentation with drugs, hailing ecstasy for giving him "orgasmic" and "sensual" feelings.
And he insists the references to illegal substances on their second release A Weekend In The City are not meant to "glamorise" the use of drugs - it is just an observation of modern life.
He says, "I think in the 21st Century drug-taking is something that is synonymous with life, really. All I intended to do with the songs is to capture what modern life feels like.
"They’re not in there to glamorise anything, it’s just aimed at being honest.
I’m not making a judgement about drugs; they are just there in the background.
I just don’t think it’s a big deal."

Serbian men are swapping their prize cows for a bigger penis.
Paranoid that they are lacking in the trouser department, the nation’s farmers have started trading livestock for willy-boosting surgery.
The procedure would usually be unaffordable to most of the men, but one of the country’s top cosmetic surgeons, Srecko Djordjevic, has revealed their innovative scheme.
Dr. Srecko Djordjevic said: "The size of a man’s member seems to play a big role in our society and the price of the operation, around £400, is almost exactly what a good cow is worth - so farmers are choosing to swap a cow if it means a bigger penis." However, some of the farmers have unrealistic ideas of what can be achieved.
The doctor added: "Some of them want to add 10 centimetres and that is just not possible - at least not for just one cow."

South African workers work so hard, they have no energy for sex.
Long hours and demanding tasks are leaving public sector workers so exhausted, their love lives are dwindling, trade unions have claimed.
Monroe Mkalipi, regional chairman of the powerful COSATU federation of trade unions, said: "The harshness that we have in all our workplaces is so severe to such a point that when you get home at night it becomes a problem expanding our families." Public sector workers in the region are already striking over benefits and pay - which the government has not increased since 2004.

An 11-year-old boy in the US has been arrested for playing with a toy gun.
The boy, from Ocoee, Florida, is facing felony charges after a witness alerted police, claiming she had "feared for her life" thinking the rubber band gun was real.
The boy’s father has slammed police for their reaction. But officers said the incident, in which the boy was seen pointing the gun out of a window while riding in his father’s pick-up truck, was a serious threat and safety issue.
Ocoee Police Sergeant Randy Conyers said: "With that type of behaviour, it’s hard to tell if it’s a real gun or not, especially in their car." Police did not release images of the gun but the boy’s father said the toy, which only fires rubber bands, looks more like a "stick" than a weapon.

Violence in a British seaside town has been found to increase when the moon is full.
Brighton Police are stepping up night patrols during the full moon after studies found it coincided with a rise in violent crime.
A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: "Research carried out by us has shown a correlation between violent incidents and full moons.
"More officers will be out on Brighton’s streets during full moons over the summer months." Inspector Andy Parr compared crime statistics for Brighton and Hove with lunar graphs.
He said: "From my experience, over 19 years of being a police officer, undoubtedly on full moons, we do seem to get people with, sort of, stranger behaviour - more fractious, argumentative.
"And I think that’s something that’s been borne out by police officers up and down the country for years."

A British teenager is suing a US adult entertainment firm after seeing her picture on the cover of a porn film.
A photograph of Lara Coton - taken on a family holiday when she was just 14 - was being used by TVX Films on the cover of adult movie ‘Body Magic’.
Lara said: "I was horrified when I found out it was being used to sell a porn film.'’ The 17-year-old e-mailed the picture to an art website which showcases exceptional amateur photography last year.
Her mother, Christine, had snapped her wearing a black top hat and black dress in a Blackpool hotel room in.
Lara wants compensation for her image being used without consent.
TVX Films claims it was entitled to use the picture as Lara had put it in the ‘’public domain'’ but has agreed to change the cover.

The world’s largest penis has been erected at an amusement park in China.
The 30ft phallus was built by wrapping 6,500ft of straw around a steel structure mounted on an alter.
The penis, named Sky Pillar, is located at the summit of 1,250ft high Qinlong Hill in Changchun city’s Longwan Shaman Amusement Park.
Park president Cheng Weiguang said: "It is a totem of Shamanistic culture, which originated in this city." The giant genitalia was inspired by the Shaman legend of a hero named Ewenki, who conquered a cruel female ruler and gave her a penis totem telling her to respect males and not kill them at will. She then erected the totem on top of the hill.
Director of the China Folk Culture Association, Shi Lixue said: "It symbolises our ancestors’ pursuit of happiness and prosperity."
