The prince - dressed in a T-Shirt, baseball cap and jeans - filled four trolleys with wines, spirits, beer and snacks during his hour-long shopping spree at Weymouth’s Asda store.
The 24-year-old royal even cleared the supermarket out of the popular summer drink Pimms.
Store manager Darren Rideout told the Dorset Echo newspaper: ‘He came in the store at 2.10pm with two bodyguards.
‘He had four trolley loads of shopping which was mainly alcohol and snacks. He cleared us out of Pimm’s.’ William reportedly seemed relaxed and was happy to chat to customers who recognised him.
Rideout added: ‘He appeared as a normal customer. A few people came up and spoke to him and he was laughing and joking with them.
‘The check-out girl didn’t actually recognise him and he packed his own shopping.
‘They left at 3.15pm with the Prince in a black Audi followed by two black Range Rovers.’ William, 24, is training to be a troop leader at Bovington Army Camp, 15 miles away from Weymouth.

Channel 4 has been branded ’sordid’ after airing images of Britain’s Princess Diana’s dying moments. The British network ignored pleas from Diana’s sons Princes William and Harry not to screen the footage - which shows the princess receiving oxygen from paramedics while still slumped in the wreckage after the Paris car crash 10 years ago - and are now facing a fierce backlash from viewers. Many expressed their shock and anger on the Channel 4 website after ‘Diana: The Witnesses in the Tunnel’ was broadcast last night (06.06.07).
One viewer wrote on Channel 4’s website: ‘How on earth can showing photos of the crash be in the public interest? Only if you have a macabre sense of voyeurism. Is there no depth your sordid little production team won’t stoop to?’ Another, Sam Taylor, 24, of Grimsby, slammed the ‘insensitive’ scenes. She wrote: ‘The princes shouldn’t have to see something horrible like that on TV. I’m sure Channel 4 only used it to get publicity.’ Channel 4 bosses announced they were not going to cut the controversial scenes from the documentary because it was in the ‘public interest’ for them to be shown.

The pair attended the opening ceremony of the Games of the Small States of Europe, which Monte Carlo is hosting for the first time since 1987.
Onlookers claim they seemed closer than ever, mirroring each other’s body language when they arrived at the opening of the bi-annual event, and walking in step with their hands clasped in front of them. The Hello! website also reported that Albert, 49 and 29-year-old Charlene were spotted gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes.
The couple also appeared to have co-ordinated their clothing for the event. Her white suit matched his white trousers-and-shirt combination, while her two-tone blue scarf matched his tie.
Charlene’s absence from the prince’s side at key social events during the first part of this year had led to rumours they were having some relationship problems.
Albert and Charlene were first spotted together at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and have since enjoyed a string of sporting dates.
South-African Charlene is a former Olympic swimmer while the prince formed a Monaco bobsled team in 1986, before going on to compete in the next five Winter Olympic Games.

Japan’s Crown Prince Naruhito underwent successful surgery to remove a benign tumour yesterday (06.06.07). The prince is said to be recovering well following the 70-minute procedure at the University of Tokyo Hospital. Ichiro Kanazawa, a doctor with the Imperial Household Agency, told reporters at a press conference yesterday that Naruhito’s procedure - in which a growth was removed from his duodenum, a part of the small intestine - was a success. Kanazawa added that the prince had already been up from his bed and on his feet, and had been talking with his wife Masako.
Naruhito, 47, is expected to stay in hospital another week in order to fully recover. He will then spend a further week resting at home, before beginning to resume his duties.
The abnormal growth was discovered during a routine health check-up in March.

India Taylor-Nayar met Charles, his wife Camilla and his mother Queen Elizabeth, when she and fellow pupils from Cardiff’s Llandaff Primary School attended the third session of the Welsh assembly on Tuesday (05.06.07).
India told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘First Camilla walked past us so I gave her a hug. She was really gentle and nice and talked to us about school.
‘Then Prince Charles walked past so I hugged him too. But when the queen came over I thought I should probably just leave it a bit and calm down so I didn’t give her a hug - because she is in the royal family.’ ‘I’ve seen the royal family on TV but when you see them a few inches away you just can’t help yourself. It just felt right to give Prince Charles a hug.
‘He said something like ‘thank you’ - he just chuckled and gave me a hug back. I liked them all because they were just being their normal selves. But I probably liked Camilla best of all.’ India’s mum Gauri said: ‘I’m not surprised. India’s such a loving child if she meets somebody nice she tends to hug them.’

Brad Pitt and George Clooney have slammed Hollywood’s new generation of ‘car wreck’ stars. The ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ co-stars admitted they would struggle to cope with the pressure young Hollywood stars face today, but said too many young actors just want to be splashed over gossip magazines. Clooney told Entertainment Weekly magazine: "We are always going to be that society that slows down to look at the car wreck on the side of the road. I think we’re just in one of those places right now, and it seems to be focused on younger kids. Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan and people like that.
"They’ll get through it, but I wouldn’t want to be growing up around that." Pitt added that young stars are to blame for being fame-hungry, and not focusing on more important issues. Clooney, 46, confessed he would have probably gone off the rails if his fame had come along when he was 21, saying, "I’d be shooting crack under my eyeball". Paris Hilton is currently in prison serving a 23-day sentence for driving offences.

The hotel heiress - who received a 23-day sentence, reduced from 45 days, for driving with a suspended licence - has left California’s Century Regional Detention Facility and been put on 40-day house arrest.
Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, revealed Paris was released for ‘medical reasons’ and had now been fitted with an ankle bracelet which will be used to keep track of her whereabouts. Whitmore could not give out exact details of the socialite’s ailment due to US privacy laws, saying: ‘I cannot specifically talk about the medical situation other than to say that yes, it played a part in this.’ Paris, 26, will be confined to living within a space of around 3,000 to 4,000 square feet at her lavish home for the duration of her tagging, and will not be allowed out for any social or work-related events.
The blonde star was released after midnight in the early hours of Thursday morning (07.06.07) and was officially ‘re-assigned’ to house arrest at 2.09am.
Paris’ sentence has now reverted back to the original 45-day sentence, and because she checked into the correctional facility on Sunday night (03.06.07) and was discharged on Thursday morning her total time in jail amounts to five days.
During her brief stay in prison, Paris was placed in a solitary confinement cell which measured just 12 by eight feet.
It had a bunk bed, a toilet, wash basin and two small windows.

LATEST: PARIS HILTON has been fitted with an ankle bracelet and put on house arrest over fears for her health in jail.
The socialite, who was serving a 23 day sentence in Los Angeles’ Century Regional Detention Center for violating her parole following a 2006 drink-driving arrest, was sent home earlier today (07Jun07), Steve Whitmore, a spokesperson for the County Sheriff’s Department, said at a press conference.
He revealed Hilton was issued with an ankle bracelet and released from prison at 2.09 am local time.
As a result of her early release, the hotel heiress’ sentence has been returned to the 45 days initially agreed in court. This will be served at her home and under the supervision of the Los Angeles Probation Office. She has already served five days.
Whitmore said, "Paris Hilton will be reassigned to a community-based, alternative to custody electronic monitoring programme.
"This means that she has been fitted with an ankle bracelet and sent home and will be confined to her home for the next 40 days." Details of the medical issue which forced Hilton’s dramatic release are confidential, Whitmore added, but the decision was reportedly approved by doctors who examined the celebrity inmate yesterday (06Jun07).
Although Hilton is officially confined to her home under the tagging system, her electronic ankle bracelet allows movement to a range of 3,000 to 4,000 square feet.

The co-creator of the BLAIR WITCH PROJECT is planning to resurrect the horror franchise with either a prequel or a second sequel.
The original film in 1999 cost just $22,000 (£11,000) to make and took a staggering $240.5 million ($120.25 million) at the box office. The sequel a year later was less successful and seemed to end any plans for future films.
But Dan Myrick, the franchise’s co-creator, is desperate to write a follow-up to the hit horror franchise - or even a prequel to the unfortunate student film-makers’ original forest ordeal.
He tells Bloody-Disgusting.com, "We have a prequel idea, we even have a sequel idea, and we would like to explore the mythology one of these days.
Lion’s Gate owns the rights to it right now, one of these days when they are prepared to get behind it; we’re prepared to shoot it. It’s all a matter of the money guys.
He adds of his idea, "It delves into the mythology of the witch itself. How the legend got started, and arguably whether it was true or not. I think it’s important to always maintain that ambiguity, whether the legend is a supernatural force in the woods, or if it is all in people’s minds. I think most boogeymen are just that, a little bit of both. What is Bigfoot really? Is it a bear, is it an eight-foot monster roaming the badlands… for me the prequel would be an exploration of the start of the legend, the whole back-story, and would give people an idea of where all that mythology took root and why. I think that would be cool."
