RICHARDS: STONES AREN’T IN IT FOR THE MONEY

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:14 pm

Rock legend KEITH RICHARDS has slammed suggestions that THE ROLLING STONES endure gruelling hours of touring solely for the vast income it brings in.
The 63-year-old insists that there is much more to performing night after night than the financial rewards - which are said to be approaching.
The Rolling Stones are in the midst of the A Bigger Bang tour, which after continuing for over two years is said to be one of the longest and highest grossing having pulled in over $436 million (£218 million) to date.
Richards says, "I don’t think you could get these guys to do it just for the money.
"It’s still a bloody adventure. Every time you set sail on these things, they’re never the same and I love to see the world and I hope the world loves to see me.
"You get this insane idea that you can only do this between 17 and 25, but y’know, I’m not a tennis player. I’ll show you how long it can be done."

HILTON DROPPED BY LABEL

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:13 pm

Prison-bound socialite PARIS HILTON has been dropped by her record label after lacklustre sales of debut pop album PARIS failed to impress music execs.
The 26-year-old, who is heading to jail next week (begs04Jun07) for a 23-day stint after violating her probation following a 2006 drink-driving arrest, is said to be devastated over the decision.
The company is thought to be disappointed after investing $250,000 (£125,000) in a video for single Stars Are Blind - which reached number 18 in the U.S.
Billboard Hot 100 charts - and a world promotional tour that brought in less that half a million record sales.
Hilton’s second single Nothing In This World barely registered on the charts, reaching number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Charts and the LP vanished after a brief appearance at number six in the Billboard album charts after selling 77,000 copies. A representative for Warner Brothers said, "We are not expecting any new Paris Hilton material in the foreseeable future."

GRANT ESCAPES CHARGES OVER PHOTOGRAPHER INCIDENT

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:10 pm

British actor HUGH GRANT will not be charged over claims he threw a container of baked beans at a photographer and kicked him.
The Love Actually star, 46, was arrested by police and bailed after allegedly attacking paparazzo Ian Whittaker, who was taking his picture outside the star’s west London home in April (07).
A Crown Prosecution Service spokeswoman says: "We have advised the police that there is insufficient evidence to charge Hugh Grant with any offence in relation to an allegation that he kicked a photographer.
"This is because there were clear discrepancies between the accounts of independent witnesses and those of the photographers involved.
"In relation to a second allegation involving a take away food container, the CPS decided that a prosecution would not be in the public interest." She added that the decision not to prosecute was down to "the minimal nature of the alleged assault and the lack of pre-meditation on the part of Mr Grant".

BIG BROTHER KIDNEY SHOW A HOAX

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:04 pm

A controversial reality show set to follow three critically ill patients competing for a kidney transplant from a terminally ill woman was actually a hoax.
Dutch company Endemol - which created Big Brother in 1999 - used an actress to play the donor in the publicity stunt to raise awareness of organ shortages - but the kidney patients are confirmed as genuine.
The company provoked outrage from a string of transplant organisations who branded the The Big Donor Show tasteless.
A spokesman for Endemol says: "The Big Donor Show was a hoax. The contestants were also part of the deception, although all three are genuine kidney patients.
"Their life is a bitter reality… we hope this will focus on the donor crisis."

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 6:02 pm

British rocker OZZY OSBOURNE has found an unlikely source of support in battling his addiction to alcohol and drugs - his son JACK.
The former Black Sabbath singer admits that Jack, who he claims developed substance abuse problems upon filming hit MTV reality show, The Osbournes, is the backbone of his quest for sobriety.
The Iron Man singer says, "I’ve got people who’ve gone through the same problems as me and who go to the same meetings that I can call, like my son.
"I love the boy. I love all my children. He only started (on drugs) because when we were doing the TV show he just couldn’t handle it - he was a 14-year-old kid.
"He wasn’t prepared for it, it freaked him out. My son is four years free, which I’m really happy about."

BIRKHEAD SUES LAWYER FOR ‘$665,000 DEFRAUD’

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 4:13 am

LATEST: Photographer LARRY BIRKHEAD is taking legal action against his former lawyer Debra Opri for allegedly defrauding him out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
On Wednesday (30May07) Birkhead hit back at claims made by Opri that he refused to pay $650,000 (£325,000) in legal fees following his custody battle for Anna Nicole Smith’s daughter earlier this year (07).
Birkhead was named as the father of nine-month-old Dannielynn in April (07), but Opri insists the bill for her part in the court case is still outstanding.
Yesterday (01Jun07) Birkhead filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, in which he claims Opri promised to represent him free of charge because "the publicity from her representation of Plaintiff would greatly benefit Opri’s legal career".
Birkhead signed a $1,050,000 (GBP525,000) deal with NBC Universal to appear on various U.S. TV shows, according to website TMZ.com.
His first paycheque was for $865,000 (GBP432,500), of which he claims Opri only paid him $200,000 (GBP100,000), depositing the remaining $665,000 (GBP332,500) into her client trust account.
In the suit, Birkhead alleges he "specifically advised Opri that she was not authorised to take control or possession of any of the funds".
Birkhead accuses Opri of refusing to release the funds, conversion, fraud, legal malpractice and of placing "her own career desires and needs as a priority over the needs, interests and desires of her own client".
He is seeking a minimum of $885,000 (GBP442,500) in damages and further punitive damages and rescission of any fee agreements he claims to have signed under fraudulent pretences.
