ROOTS STAR UPSET ABOUT RACISM
One of the stars of 1977 TV phenomenon ROOTS fears the hard-hitting slavery mini-series has done nothing to solve racism issues in America.
The story of slave hero Kunta Kinte was a massive TV hit, but castmate John Amos is appalled exactly 30 years later racism is still prevalent in the U.S.
Amos tells Parade.com, "The truth of it is, it hasn’t made a tremendous difference. Racism is still part and parcel of the American fabric.
"We had all hoped that it would enlighten people, that it would bring about a massive social change. It did not. Racism is still prevalent, and I think you’d have to be naive or living under a rock to assume that it isn’t."
