Britain’s Princes William and Harry are hosting a party to celebrate remarkable children in honour of their late mother Princess Diana’s memory. The royal brothers are planning to invite 200 of Britain’s most brave and outstanding youngsters to a fantastic bash at London’s new Wembley stadium on the eve of the Concert for Diana, which will mark the 10th anniversary of the princess’ tragic death.
William, 24, and 22-year-old Harry, are organising magicians and circus performers for the banquet set for June 30. Guests will include children aged from eight to 16, who are either battling illness or have been noted for inspirational achievements. The princes are working with Well Child, which supports kids affected by disease, and the Diana Memorial Award, which honours remarkable young people, for the event.
A Clarence House spokesman told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: ‘William and Harry wanted to hold this lunch to celebrate the work of two very important organisations and meet some of the remarkable children.’ Princess Diana, who died in a Paris car crash in August 1997, was well known for her love of children and extensive work with children’s charities across the world.
Performers for the Concert for Diana on July 1 - what would have been Diana’s 46th birthday - include Sir Elton John, Duran Duran, Joss Stone and Bryan Ferry.
