LEVINE SLAMS DRUG CULTURE

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 9:07 am

MAROON 5 frontman ADAM LEVINE has launched a stinging attack on musicians who use drugs to bolster their rock ‘n’ roll image.
The singer, who admits smoking cannabis, fears excessive drug-taking is becoming the norm among young stars, and is disgusted its false glamour has become a substitute for real talent.
He says, "I’ve written some of the best music ever stoned - but I’ve also written some totally horrible music. Anything beyond that recreational use of drugs is terrifying.
"What upsets me is this romantic new look at sex, drugs and rock and roll.
The allure of it is incredible. Drugs must have seemed amazing in the sixties, but it’s 2007. We need a modern outlook.
"This idea that rock and roll has to be this way is archaic. Perpetuating it as this mythical thing that you have to live up to is stupid.
"Back in the day when The Beatles were on acid they were writing f**king Sergeant Pepper. There was something happening culturally that was a phenomenon.
"Now it’s just the acid and no Sergeant Pepper."
