FREY READERS MAY RECEIVE REFUND

Posted in: Entertainment — PR-inside Entertainment News @ 2:07 pm

LATEST: Readers who bought JAMES FREY’s controversial memoir A MILLION LITTLE PIECES could be in line to receive a refund.
U.S. District Judge Richard J. Holwell gave tentative approval yesterday (21May07) to Fray and the book’s publisher Random House, spending $2.4 million (£1.2 million) on refunding readers who bought the book before 26 January 2006.
Holwell claimed the agreement was "fair, reasonable, adequate, and in the best interests of the settlement class." He set a date later on this year (02Nov07) to consider final approval of the deal.
The book became a bestseller after U.S. talk show host Oprah Winfrey recommended it to her audience in 2005. But in January 2006, Frey was accused of embellishing his story of his drug addiction and Winfrey berated him in person on her TV show.
