ROWLAND SEARCHES FOR ESTRANGED DAD
Singer KELLY ROWLAND wants to track down the alcoholic and abusive father who drove her and her mother from their family home 19 years ago.
Rowland was just seven when she and mum Doris fled after being subjected to years of drunken abuse.
But the former Destiny’s Child singer is ready to reach out and make contact - and she is praying he isn’t dead.
Rowland, 26, says, "Meeting my dad again is something I’ve been thinking about recently.
"I don’t know where he is but I hope he’s not dead. That would break my heart. I remember my dad being drunk and aggressive towards my mum but not me.
It took courage for her to get away.
"I don’t know if he knows who I am or what I’ve done. He must be hiding under a rock if he doesn’t." Despite mellowing towards her dad - Rowland insists she has learned an important lesson from her childhood: "I’m not afraid of alcohol but I wouldn’t choose a man who indulges in it. I wouldn’t want any kids I have to go through what I did."
