GUZMAN SUED FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT
Mexican rocker ALEJANDRA GUZMAN is facing a $500,000 (£250,000) lawsuit from a U.S. concert promoter, alleging breach of contract for cancelling a forthcoming gig.
The Latin Grammy winner was scheduled to play at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena in California on 16 June (07), but according to her promoter Julio G. Esparza of Esparza Entertainment, she decided to pull out of the concert last week (15May07).
In the lawsuit filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday (18May07), American firm Regional Music Inc. alleges it put down a $28,650 (£14,325) deposit with Esparza to seal the concert deal.
The papers claim the company spent $120,000 (£60,000) in advertising, tickets, accommodation and other expenses for the star.
They are also still in debt to the arena’s owners, after renting the venue for Guzman’s performance.
Regional Music Inc. is suing Guzman and Esparza Entertainment for breach of contract, fraud and unjust enrichment.
